We stayed at Villas Hermosas at the end of a 10 day trip and couldn't have been happoer. We only wish we had stayed there longer. The villa was perfect. Great layout, clean, nice and very comfortable. The property is in a nice quiet location with easy access to the beach and great surfing. Tara and Brad along with the rest of the staff made us feel welcome and as if we were long time friends. They gave us great recommendations for two of the best dinners we have had anywhere.

Overall a fantastic place and we look forward to coming back soon. My only concern is that it will become too popular and hard to get into, but they were such nice people, I can only hope for their success.

We had a decent stay here but I do think their website is a tad misleading. In reality, it is not as nice as their web photos display. The photos on this travel site are more accurate and I highly suggest looking at these to get a true feel for the place. The location is nice in some ways(ie. beach right there) but it is quite far to get to most shops and restaurants. It seems to be more suited for families with small children. I also think the price only makes sense for families. It was a bit steep in price for the facilities. It was nice having a separate housing unit but it certainly was not luxurious. It had more of an inexpensive apartment feel inside. We did enjoy the area but did feel out of the way from things.

My wife and I have just returned from our vacation in Costa Rica. The most disappointing part of our trip was that we left our stay at Villas Hermosa until last and only for a few days. We had spent the previous 12 days of our trip in the mal pais/santa teresa area and this is the only place that I will take the time to write about.

The picturesque setting and outstanding amenities were surpassed only by the gracious hospitality of our hosts Brad and Tara. They went to outstanding lengths to ensure that our stay was a memorable one.

In fact, it is with great hesitation that I write this review for fear of jeopardizing the future availability of this little piece of paradise. With only 3 villas and a honeymoon suite (where we stayed), the intimacy is unlike anywhere we have stayed before.

The surf was always up, and the sunsets cant be beat.

If you are looking for a tropical holiday in paradise, may we suggest Villas Hermosas in Mal Pais, Costa Rica.

On our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous setting. The layout of the 3 larger villas around the Rancho/Pool area works very well, close enough to the pool and lounge area but far enough away for those quiet times. The honeymoon villa, facing the ocean, has a wonderful outside deck to sit and watch those fantastic sunsets.

Our hosts, Brad & Tara were very knowledgeable of the area and very helpful in arranging our day on the quads and another highlight, our Zipline tour. Their adorable little daughter, Monica, kept us from missing our own grandchildren so much. Their staff were also very accommodating, friendly and everything was kept very clean and tidy. And the breakfasts every morning at the Rancho-make sure you try the chocolate waffles-Yummy!

There is lots of great restaurants and sports bars in the area and
if you choose to cook in, the villas are fully equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed a few meals of fresh shrimp from the fish truck that comes by at least twice a week.

Our holiday was so very relaxing, watching the monkeys jumping from tree to tree, walking on the beach, swimming and relaxing by the pool, eating, drinking - what more could one want? Another 2 1/2 weeks in paradise - you guessed it.
