“Great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

My wife and I stayed in a cabina with shared kitchen from March 18, 2014 to April 1, 2014. We had an awesome time. My wife didn't surf, but thoroughly enjoyed hanging around the pool, meeting people and feeding iguanas. The room and kitchen were very clean, the restaurant had great food. The number of monkeys hanging around the camp was insane. It is an easy walk into town by road or by beach.
Ross and Douglas were great hosts.

Chill, fun, open-air resort with cabins with pool, surf boards, good food, and great hosts! In your own little jungle garden right by the beach, and close to the awesome town. Best vacation to date - thank you Ross & Doug!!

We had a great time here, clean, easy going (honor system for drinks and boards) food was okay. Very close to beach, quiet at night with howler monkeys and squirrels and iguanas all around. The pool is big, the outdoor shower cool and nice people to talk to. Close, that is, walking distance to the strip with the restaurants and bars. We will be back for the all hard wooden houses!

This place is amazing. If you go to Costa Rica, you've got to stay at Malpais Surf Camp...even if you don't surf! Great, big and very clean cabinas. 5 minutes walk to the beach or you can also enjoy the big pool. The people are great too!

My s/o and I come back year after year. LOVE the surf camp and the folks that run it. Basic, clean accomodations(we do the cabina with 1 double bed and shared bathroom)great food, laid back vibe and super relaxing.

I can't imagine not coming back again and again

Very well designed resort surrounded with tropical garden. Welcoming, friendly, and helpful staff. Great atmosphere! Varieties of luxury and budget types of accommodation. Great cafe, swimming pool, children playground, pool table, rest area with "library corner" for those who are interested. Nice ranch with open-air cabins, convenient sinks for doing some laundry which is great for surfers, soap in showers. There is a tent camping area on a grass meadow with trees and some birds in the trees.
This is the best place to be in neighborhood besides the beach. Roads in the city are dusty. Mal Pais- Santa Teresa beach is great for surfing but not so good for swimming.
