We stayed in casa Lola for a week over the new year. It was quiet, clean and chill. Just what we wanted. The view from the patio area is impressive, and we found ourselves waking at dawn to capture the early morning vista each day. Indeed, the serenity of early morning on the patio was only matched by the breathtaking sunsets each night. we made it a priority to get back from the beach to have drinks for the sunset. magical. The accommodations had all that we needed, and our host was super nice. There could have been a few extra pillows and blankets in the bedrooms, but I'm sure if we would have gotten around to asking, Jorg would have provided them. We felt safe and comfortable. The place is far from pretentious and we felt at ease on the property. there are a few apartments that share the pool and pavilion area, but we never felt uncomfortable with that. the dollar value was exceptional.

We found the town area a lot of fun, and some really great places to eat. Quality food for sure. The beaches were wonderful. Our only disappointment was how busy the town was while we were there. Indeed, many of the locals were frustrated by the holiday rush as well. It created a LOT of dust on the road. This dust was our biggest thumbs down of the week. Yes, the roads suck in nicoya, and we expected that, but the dust, ug...that sucked.

3 of us stayed at Nido de Aguila for a week in early January 2013. Our accomodations were in Casa Alred. The drive to Nido de Aguila from the main road is quite the adventure but more than worth it when you arrive. A 4WD vehicle is a must. The only drawback to the area is the quality of the roads; gravel and extremely dusty.

We experienced breathtaking views of the Pacific, the beaches and hillside. There is a fully equipped kitchen outside with hammocks and a pool. All of the meals that we prepared were cooked outdoors. We only used our accommodations to sleep as the outdoor kitchen satisfied all of our needs. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck overlooking the Pacific, and experienced the evening stars with a cigar and 12 yr old rum. We saw lots of exotic birds, monkies, reptiles and insects,

The Mal Pais area has a lot to offer, especially if you are a surfer, including many restaurants, grocery stores, liquor store and beaches. Be adventurous and explore the surrounding towns and countryside. It's well worth it. The property manager was on site to answer any questions and make recommendations. Thanks Joerg.

Room Tip: Nido de Aguila has spectacular views, nestled at the top of a hill. Private and quiet. Casa Alfred h...

This place is a 'one of a kind' find! we stayed here with 4 students where we made full use of the nice kitchen and the very relaxing balcony. The pool is nice and fresh and Jorg is the most relaxed host you can imagine. The only thing we would have liked to have there would be some chairs to lay in the sun, then this paradise would be complete.

The climb up the hill can be a bit tedious but you will find a very special place with the most astonishing views!

This property is spectacular! The views are breath-taking. The outdoor kitchen/living area and pool are perfect for relaxing after a long day, or just starting your morning with coffee and a book. The property is very clean and private. In the morning and afternoon you will most certainly spot the monkeys in surrounding trees. It's a quick ride to town but I would suggest a 4WD to navigate the driveway. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need. The sunsets are incredible. The property is perfect for families - we took our three boys and they absolutely loved it - from the pool to the hammocks to the monkeys and birds. We even walked to the beach most days. There is plenty of outdoor space to relax. You will never tire of the views from Nido de Aguila! The outside kitchen is perfect for BBQ, family dinners or gathering with friends. And the caretakers are extremely friendly and helpful. It's a perfect vacation rental for families, couples or large groups!

This was our second visit to Mal Pais so we were familiar with the area. My husband chose Nido de Aguila through VRBO and it turned out to be a true paridise high on the hill. We stayed in Casa Lola and it was even more breatakingly beautiful than the photos can show. Our two sons live to surf and love nature, so they were in heaven cracking coconuts when they weren't surfing or swimming in the pool. The white face monkeys would eat most mornings from the papaya trees on the property. The caretakers were very friendly always making us feel welcome and very accommodatingl. Casa Lola had everything we needed for a comfortable two week stay, the caretakers even did our personal laundry. No need to even lock the doors, safety is not a concern here. We love Mal Pais and Santa Teresa and our stay at Nido de Aguila was such a pleasure. We hope to return someday soon.

My husband, our two little boys and I spend a week at Nido de Aguila and we had a fantastic time. The house was the perfect size for a family of four with small children. The accommodations were modern & comfortable, the place was clean and the caretakers were friendly and informative.
The view is amazing. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning while you watch the sunrise or a glass of wine in the afternoon as you watch the sunset and you'll feel like you are in paradise.
The view alone is worth the stay. It is BEAUTIFUL!
Nido de Aguila is perfect for little kids as well because of the pool, the trampoline, and the spacious grounds for them to run in. My boys, age 3 and 6, also REALLY enjoyed all the nature around them. Lots of critters to look at. They were constantly amazed by what they saw.
We will definitely choose to stay at Nido de Aguila on our next trip to CR.
