My boyfriend and I went to Costa Rica and spend 5 nights at Beija Flor at the beginning of our trip! Finally, we must have stayed there the entire trip!!!
Lodging: We stayed in a Deluxe Room with AC + fan and outside shower. The room was spacious and really really ( 100 x!!!) clean! The linen were changed every 2 days, the towels each days and even the bed case was cleaned under the matress during our stay! The lodge is small and pretty quiet for those who seek for relaxation and intimity. The decoration is zen with natural wood and minimalist shapes. Polished ciment used for floor and shower is beautiful! There is a security box in the room. The pool was clean and calm with chairs to relax on. Yoga deck is huge! Flowers and trees are everywhere so you can watch a variety of birds and even hawler monkeys in the mangos trees!!!
Location: The lodge is situated about 2 km from the closest village (shops and restaurant) but you can walk to get there, rent a bike, a ATV or a MX and if you prefer the confort of a taxi, it cost 4$. There's a beach 200 meters in front of the lodge where you can watch beautiful sunset. It's a mix of sand and rocks. If surfing is your cup of tea, just reach the village and you'll have access to kilometers of sandy beach with good breaks! Beginner can learn while pro surf the tubes!
Restaurant: At the time we were there (rain season) the service was offered every morning (prices includes beakfast), lunch and almost every dinner. For breakfast you can eat traditionnal eggs with toast, gallo pinto (local breakfast made with rice and beans + eggs), fresh fruit, french toast, bread, etc! Lunch and dinner offers a variety of typical and american food. DELICIOUS, FRESH and affordable! Ricardo was the king! You can also get a drink and the PinaColada of fresh juice drinks were tasting like heaven!
Hospitality: Absolutely Everyone, from the girl who took our reservation on the net to the maintenance guy, were lovely and helpfull. Doyles at the restaurant and bar became a friend and helped us with arranging our surf adventure and nightlife! Tania and Laura at the front desk answered our questions and helped us with taxi and transportation. Plus: They all speak english!
In resume, we had a wonderful vacation that we couldn't find anywhere else... We would recommend this hotel to everyone traveling in couples or family. Our only suggestion would be to put a small refrigerator in the room so we could keep our water or collation fresh. While we were here, one of the owner was there with his family. They were just lovely!!!
For 70$ for a deluxe room with breakfast in rain season, it worth it!!!
Deluxe is wonderful and spacious. Standard is probably perfect too!
