My boyfriend and I just got back from a wonderful week at the Marriott.
We couldn't have stayed at a nicer place. The hotel is absolutely wonderful!! The landscaping is beautiful and the pool is spectacular! The staff was very friendly and I never felt unsafe. Our room was very clean and we did see a few ants but nothing major. After all, we are in the rain forrest.
The golf course is beautiful. A bit on the expensive side but you are playing in the middle of a rain forrest and that dosen't happen very often. A very hard course at that. We lost quite a few golf balls but my boyfriend had a great time playing.

The food at the hotel is very expensive but that was expected. Luckily our breakfast was included in our pakage and it was very good. Great selection.

We had lunch or dinner in Jaco or at the marina at more inexpensive spots. There are quite a few places in Jaco which are very good and inexpensive. You don't want to hang out in jaco too long. We would have lunch or dinner and bought snacks, beer and water at the local super market and returned to the hotel. We didn't have any problems but like so many reviews have stated, it probably isn't a good idea to hang out there at night.
A good place in Jaco for dinner is Lemon Zest. Great food and you might pay just as much as you would at the Hotel, but it came highly recomended and we were not dissapointed.
Another good spot is the Hook Up at the marina just a short walk away from the hotel. A free shuttle will take you there too but the walk is nice.

The weather was great even in the rainy season. You have to try zip lining. So much fun!!

We met alot of nice people at the resort, you won't be dissapointed.

My family of four (two boys 11 and 13) spent eight nights at Los Suenos. Being an american hotel, we expected it to be similar to other NA hotels, and it didn't disappoint. The rooms were large, and although we had some problems with ants in the bathroom the first day or so, they vanished after we complained. The service was prompt and professional. The pool was fantastic! Even though the resort was full, you could always get lounge chairs in secluded areas without having to get up at 7:00 a.m. to save a chair. The food at the resort was very good, with some Costa Rican specialities. As mentioned in other posts, the beach is pretty crummy. We walked over to the Marina and had great sushi and Italian food. The Hook Up was just ok, but our expectations were not high anyway. Just outside the resort are Juanita's and another restaurant. I liked both, but you get more food at slightly better prices there. We only went into Jaco once for dinner at Lemon Zest, which is owned by a Florida couple, and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. I recommend going here if you venture into Jaco. We didn't do anything else there, given what we had read about the town.

Of course, you can spend all your time at the resort, and in essence you could be anywhere, so we spent half our trip doing some adventures, including ziplining, white water rafting and a fantastic day at Manual Antonio Park. We spent time at a couple of the beaches and found the water warm and inviting.

The only drawback at the hotel is the taxis. If you don't have a car, you are at the mercy of the CRT (Costa Rica Tours) based at the hotel where you pay a set fee for your destination and pay through the hotel and get vouchers. In talking with folks, it is almost double if you called a local taxi driver...I guess it's the price of convenience! I didn't like it.

Overall, a great property, nice staff -- Costa Rican people are great and speak fluent english, and weather and food are incredible.

“the best option for jaco”

Marriott Los Suenos Ocean & Golf Resort

Aug 19, 2008

Not much to say other than great food, great service, and a great option to stay away from dirty Jaco. The Hook Up bar has the best food I have found outside of the "Tin Jo" located in San Jose. The restaurant over looks a cool marina where you can watch the fish swim while waiting for your meal. Overall service is what you would expect in a Marriott.

“Great Property”

Marriott Los Suenos Ocean & Golf Resort

Aug 17, 2008

This is a great Marriott Resort property, beautiful and well maintained. Our room was very clean and service was great. I would agree with others about Jaco....My husband, daughter and Myself went into town for 15 minutes and promptly left. It is very seedy with an abundance of men all hanging around the streets. The only women you will see or either working as a cashier or are WORKING the streets. We saw drug deals etc. Stay on resort property or take tours booked through the resort. We did zip lining and had a great time!

My only complaint about the resort is that the pool cholrine turns anything white. green and if you have colored hair, especially blond tones, you will walk around with green hair. It was kinda comical, all of us bleach blonds walking around with punk green hair!! I dont know if this was just a problem during our stay, or if it is consistant. Just take shampoo that rinses out the cholrine and dont take your best swim suit with you.

Our room did have a few ants on counter top. They do post a sign, asking you to not leave opened sugar packets etc around as they know there is a problem.. What can I say your in the rainforest/tropics. It was certainly nothing that created any kind of problem, or took away from our stay. This is a lovely property , you wont be dissapointed.

The Marriott Los Suenos is one of the most unforgettable places I have ever stayed at.
Beautiful views, spectacular service and the nicest people are what makes this place OUTSTANDING! We stayed here for two PERFECT nights and will most definitely return!

We drove all over Costa Rica and had a lovely time doing it. Eat at the SODAS and leave the hotel food to others. You will NOT be sorry and neither will your wallet.

We visited Playa Blanca a beautiful, hidden beach that was the highlight of our time in the Pacific.

We also visited Arenal and the waterfall in La Fortuna..STUNNING! Villas Vilma in La Fortuna was a sweet surprise.
