Extremely dirty - it looked like the sheets in our room hadn't been washed in months. Sand actually rolled around on the bed when we sat on the sheets, and we just felt sooo unclean the whole time we were in the room (which wasn't very long since we wanted to spend as little time as possible in there). The bathroom was absolutely horrible too - we avoided showering until we reached our next hostel. Maybe we just got the worst room since some of the other reviews are much more positive, but I would personally never recommend this hostel to anyone. Staff wasn't any too friendly, and there is no way I would describe this place as "clean" like the other people on here did (and I'm a low-maintenance college student and didn't have very high expectations going in, but somehow I was still grossed out and almost slept on the beach instead of inside the gross room). Jaco just sucked in general though as a town in my opinion, though, so maybe that's part of it. A part of my Costa Rican experience that I really don't care to remember.

Central, clean and by far the cheapest place in town

I stayed longer than expected because the mood was excellent. Very clean, good situation, very friendly staff. The other people at the hostels were a mix of old people on vacation, surfers, backpackers ... a very friendly mix. The place is clean, super close to the beach and shopping.. right across from a great (and cheap) restaurant, There's even wifi ! CLEAN, AFFORDABLE, GREAT LOCATION, GREAT STAFF, what more could you want??

I didn't expect much from Jacob but this Hostel made all the difference. Very relaxed and easy going, excellent facilities that actually get taken care of (like BBQ grill and oven), nice atmosphere with plenty of hammocks and rocking chairs and plants for shadow. The wifi works flawlessly for Costa Rican standards and power outlets are in the rooms and outdoor area if you need them; all things I came to appreciate a lot on my travels.

The staff is fantastic and was pretty much available and helpful night and day but without giving you the feeling of watching you. It right away felt like I stayed over at a friends house.

Thema only thing I didn't like is that my dorm room didn't have a window. Though it didn't smell bad or anything and I was only in there to sleep anyways. This is the first hostel where the pillows actually didn't smell like the last persons feet...

If in Costa Rica again I will definetly stop by! Thank you!
