I stayed at the Rutan Surf Cabinas for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. For starters its got one of the best rates in Jaco (25$ for 2 people), the lady who works/lives there is very friendly and very helpful, and the location couldnt be better. Its a 10 second walk to the beach and a 10 second walk to the main strip in Jaco-near bars, restaraunts, shopping, and just about everything. There's a really cool outdoor bbq/kitchen that everyone can use, the atmosphere is really chill and laid back, and theres a ping pong table which is a fun little addition when you come back from the beach. The rooms are clean, the sheets were clean, the showers, and like I said the staff was very friendly. Its also pretty safe and locked up at night to deter any petty theft. Would definitely reccomend to anyone traveling on a budget in Jaco.

On a side note Rutan Surf Cabinas makes you wish Jaco wasnt so built up. Its got such a lazy little surf hostel feeling compared to all the new highrises being built!

This place is exactly what everyone is looking for. It is just outside of the main town, tucked away neatly inside a private street right at the beach! Staff is awesome, there is a really nice huge bbq area outside with all the kitchen things we needed. Rooms are clean, people are mellow, beds and sheets and showers were all right on. Its not the Ritz but as far as hostels are concerned its 5 star. I'll only return to Rutan!

The staff is very nice, and it's location is great! It's two minutes from the beach and has a great bar and restaurant right across the street. Had a great time!
