My husband recently stayed at the Mar de Luz in Jaco. The staff is extremely friendly, especially Victor, the owner. He was very approachable, always asking if our needs were met and has the cutest dog, Rosita. He made our stay that much more enjoyable.
The hotel has 2 pools in the center of the hotel with lounge chairs surrounding them. Our room was good sized, but needed to be updated. The lighting wasn't great, but had appliances (microwave and refrigerator). The hotel is located on a side street off the main street of Jaco. It's not on the beach side, but is only a 5 minute walk. We thought the location was great because you couldn't hear the noise of the main street yet it was so close to everything.
We would definitely stay here again if we go back to Jaco.

We were given a personal welcome by the hotel owner (Victor), who was very friendly and informative. The room was huge, although its interior decoration might not be everyone's taste. Quite old-fashioned with a Dutch touch. Room equipped with fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, cutlery, plates etc. which was very useful. Hotel has many facilities, from two pools to a bbq area. Free internet terminals & free parking. Location perfect, just off the main street of Jaco. Quiet and decent. Breakfast great choices.

My sister and I just returned from Hotel Mar de Luz. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a warm, safe, relaxing atmosphere, and the decor is beautiful. Victor, the owner, goes out of his way to make his guests feel welcome and exceed expectations. I definitely recommend this hotel. P.S. If you stay at the Mar de Luz, please be sure to give the neighboring horse a few carrots - he loves them!

Wonderful hotel! We were on a family trip with two adults and two children. We had a room with two double beds, but prior to our arrival they had set up an extra single bed for our son so he didn't have to share with his sister. I cannot say enough good things about the owner-he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and chat with us. He has two wonderful little dogs who lounge around outside, and are delightful. The rooms were very nice and ours had a kitchenette. There is a table right outside your room for your personal use, and was great for the adults to sit at while watching the kids swim. The motel is off the beaten path for privacy and yet only one block away from the main street for easy access. There is also a wonderful outside sitting area with a T.V. and books and plenty of couches which is roofed but open on two sides for that outside feel-very relaxing!
We would never stay anywhere else when in Jaco.
