I spent 3 nights at the BW over the week between Christmas and New Years. There were 6 people with me....3 in their mid 20"s my daughter (16), my husband and i in our 50"s and a friend also in her 50"s. The place was filled with Costa Ricans and their families on vacation, there were very few people from the states(which i like and consider a plus), and all the service staff did their best to please. I felt safe and secure and being on the all-inclusive plan enjoyed the food and variety. If you cannot be happy here you cannot be happy anywhere in Jaco (IMO) If you want more info just e-mail me and I will help you anyway I can. Once again my vacation (and everyone else who was with me agrees) was happy, safe, and very enjoyable.

“It Was Wonderful, Perfect Vacation in Costa Rica”

Best Western Jaco Beach Resort

Nov 25, 2007

We went to Costa Rica to explore and relax. My boyfriend, his brother and I visited Costa Rica. The hotel was clean, staff was really friendly and accomidating. We really enjoyed interacting with Moses. The staff spoke english and were always eager to assist us with whatever we needed. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is always cleaning the grounds. Andrienne at the Grey Tour desk located in the lobby of the hotel was wonderful. WE booked 5 tours and enjoy all of them very much. The breakfast in the dining room was impressive. I opted for a homemade omlet and a fresh yogurt and fruit drink everyday. The selection of food was good. Breafast comes with your stay. The staff at the restaurant was good as well. Being from New York I can be kind of fussy. We thought the price of the best western was good , we booked it, I was worried it would be dirty. It was not at all. The rooms are dated and need to be updated however they were clean and perfect to sleep in, we were to busy exploring. I really enjoyed being close to the ocean. Jaco beach is really a surfers beach. The current is very very strong. We kind of played in the water. We did not swim in it. The life guard was very attentive in telling us where the safest area to swim was located. It was really interesting watching people of all ages surfing. The beach is a rock beach. The town of Jaco was interesting. We tried many of the establishments along the main street. The food was so good.
My favorite place to eat was Hicaco seafood restuarant. It was pricey yet it was the best seafood I have ever tasted. It is also right on the beach. There are places all over Jaco. We shopped and bought many beatiful pieces of wood , jewerly boxes, boxes..etc. The wood is amazing. I have never seen this kind of wood being sold in NYC. As far as safety in Jaco, be smart and just relax. No one bothered us, we walked all over at all times.
If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton don't stay here.......it is a perfect spot in the center of everything we needed. It is also only 2 hours from San Jose airport. We plan on going backto the Best Western Jaco Beach next year.

Thank you everyone that works there, you were wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Thank you.

I went to this hotel as part of a family getaway. We got one room for my parents, and another for my sister, brother and I. With two double beds, we were very comfortable. The room was always kept very clean, we had AC and the housekeeper always took the time to make a little "sculpture" out of our towels. I think that's one of the best hotels in the neighborhood for the price.

The Best Western is situated in a very convenient location. You can walk to numerous amazing restaurants (a lot of them are really cheap too!), stores, banks, etc. There is also a computer with free Internet near the lobby. If it's busy, you can still go to nearby Internet cafés that won't break the bank.

You can walk to the beach, and enjoy the Pacific Ocean, or take a dip in the pool. The pool is very clean, and there are lounging chairs around it to enjoy the sun.

As for the breakfast that was included in the room, it was a cold buffet, with plenty of delicious tasting fruits. The variety was interesting and we had new kind of juices every morning. And the coffee was honestly one of the best I've tasted in my life (go to the grocery on the main street and bring back Costarican coffee home!).

I spent 5 days at the Best Western at Jaco and was there participating in a soccer tournament. Most of the guests were players from all over the world though mostly the US. It was somewhat rowdy and that is to be expected with the large group travelling to a tournament and staying at an all inclusive!!

I was there with my wife and baby girl. My overall rating would be 3.5 stars, in between average and above average. The staff that I dealt with were friendly and helpful, the rooms were dated but clean and functional and the food was okay. Nothing to get excited about but good enough! The beach was good, big waves to surf or just play in.

I would probably stay elsewhere if I went back with my family, not that I didn't like it, we are more of a small quiet, place type of travellers and so Jaco would not be our destination.

My boyfriend and I just got back from Best Western Jaco Beach. We went March 20th-27th.

Mixed reviews. Hotel was nice. Rooms were small, but really, how often are you actually going to be spending in the rooms? At night, that was a different story. Lots of noise. Not very sound proof. That was the partiers coming in from a night out. Little annoying at 5 in the morning. We went to the front desk and they gave warnings. After 2 (1 from front desk and 1 from Security) They are asked to leave. No problems after that.

We had a nice garden view room, with a slight view of the ocean and the pool.

The beach was nice. Obviously not white sand beach, but that's now what you base a vacation on. Unlike one review, we did not get harrassed on the beach with people asking us if we wanted to buy things. We did have some vendors come up to us to sell things, but we were firm in telling them no, and they walked away. Had the dude with the hoseback riding, and took him up on the offer. $30.00 USD for two hours which in our case ended up being 3 hours. We went up a mountain to watch the sunset over Jaco Beach. Was very beautiful.

With Adrian in Grayline tours office, we booked the Manuel Antonio National Park tour. Guide was Edgardo. Booked Arenol Volcano Tour. Guide was Isabelle. And booked Waterfalls Canopy Tour (just down from the resort) Guys there were awesome. All tours were awesome. Never had so much fun in my life.

Jaco Beach... the town is a little shaddy, but don't flatter yourself, no local will even bat an eyelash at you. They are to busy with their own stuff, to worry about harrassing tourists. We felt very safe. Yes there are prostitutes, but if thats not what your looking for, why let it bother you. Just keep an eye on your money, like you would anywhere else you visit. Lots of touristy stores and surf lessons/stores.

We did go to a cute little seafood resturant in Jaco called Hiacoco (I believe). Very nice, little pricey, well worth it. And a guy comes around and sings anything you want, of course for a tip.. but its great fun.
