“Absolutely the Best Surroundings in Jaco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

We stumbled upon this gem thanks to a Groupon Travel Deal and were continually amazed with each passing day. This is an authentic environment with Toucans, Monkeys, Hawks, Parrots and Lizards en masse in the surrounding jungles of the property and sometimes on your balcony. It's a nature lover's paradise and the staff is utterly contented to assist your whims, be those a massage in their spa or custom ordering off their room service menu.

They are famous for their sunset view, which ranks as a top 3 I've ever personally watched (although the overly dramatic Yanni music could be muted for an equally stunning experience). The beach is only really available by tram, which is free and runs frequently throughout the day, but it seems to have a last call a bit too early. However, their beach consists of a cliff overlooking shallow slick rocks, so not traditional but if you go there for the beach then you're just being stingy about not wanting to shell out for Tortuga Island or another trip to a "real" beach. Take in Manuel Antonio Park if you get a chance, it's a bit of a drive, but the concierge will arrange everything and you won't be disappointed. This is a truly romantic spot, so live it up and enjoy the indulgence.

Room Tip: Get to the sunset show early to make sure you have a prime spot and charge your camera when in the r...

Dear Friends, thank you very much for your kind words. The hotel is deeply involved in Sustainable Tourism and we strive on a daily basis to respect the Nature surrounding the hotel. This explain why you were able to see that much Toucans, Monkeys, Hawks, Parrots and Lizards in the property. We realy try to leave in harmony with the tropical forest and all its inhabitants !!
We hope to see you soon back with us. Best regards. manager@villacaletas.com

We stayed in this hotel for three nights from Mach 04 - 07/2013. Our suite #83 has an ocean view, big terrace and hot tub - beautifully decorated. The services were excellent, drinks were pricey but food bills were reasonable. We enjoyed breakfasts at the Amphitheater restaurant. Also the use golf carts for transporting guests from one site to another was efficient.

Zephyr Palace was uniquely designed - it's really one of a kind and its pool has a fascistic view. Overall we had a wonderful time staying in Villa Caletas.

One thing for consideration is that if you have mobility issue, this hotel could be a challenge, as some rooms are not easily accessible by car.

Loved the hotel and the amazing views and service!
The food ia delicious, the staff is very friendly and it is a very luxurious experience that i fully recommend.
Also it is close to Jaco so you can drive there and have a nice meal there too.
As for the beach it is not walking distance unfortunately but the pools make up for it!

We spent almost 2 weeks in Costa Rica and this was our favorite hotel. The view and setting are AMAZING, even better is the food. It's not super cheap but the food is very good. [Full disclosure: I live in NYC, so I'm very picky -- it's that good.] The pool had to be one of the best I've ever seen. It was an infinity pool overlooking the mountains and sea and had waterfalls (fake) flowing into it and a tree roots growing into the water. The gym, while not extensive, is openair and the view is spectacular.

The only downside I would say is that it was a bit of a walk to our room -- but something we experienced in other high end hotels here, and the room wasn't super big. But overall the place is amazing. It's the food and the setting that really set this place apart.

Our expectations were surpassed with this amazing hotel. We stayed in Villa #35 and were beyond thrilled with our room - it was roomy with fabulous views of the rainforest and Pacific Ocean. We had a bit of a walk to the pool and restaurants but this was not a problem - a pickup is available for those not wanting the walk (it was about a 5 minute walk with hills). It is the location, layout, and landscaping of the hotel that make it so special. The property of the hotel is amazing - beautiful location on the top of a mountain with amazing views all around. We absolutely loved the infinity pool with surrounding vegetation we felt like we were in a natural spring in the middle of the rainforest. The service was very good at the pool, in the bar and the restaurant. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and all were excellent!

We took the shuttle to the beach one afternoon and wish we had more time to stay and enjoy it! What a beautiful spot. The beach is a bit of a distance from the hotel but the hotel offers regular shuttles and it is worth the trip. We had thought of walking down but were thankful we opted for the shuttle.

We highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a unique experience. We plan on returning.

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa 35 - it is just outside of the main hotel just before the road to Zephyr Palace...

We stayed here for a wedding and the Zephyr Palace venue was exceptional for the ceremony and reception but I can't recommend the villas as highly. They are picturesque but a bit on the small side. If you can get a villa close to the main level I'm sure it's more convenient. We had room 28 which was nearly the last one and required many many flights of steps.

Booking the room was actually quite challenging. Perhaps because we were part of the wedding party so we couldn't book direct. Service on-site was okay. We really appreciated the golf cart to take use between the main reception area and the Zephyr Palace. No way that walk would have been possible in wedding attire.

The highlight of the property must be the pools -- both at Zephyr Palace and especially the main pool. We whiled away the afternoon with the spectacular view, wonderful friends and plenty of fruity drinks poolside.

Room Tip: Recommend and room lower than 24. Anything numbered higher than that requires lots of stairs.

Dear Friends, thank you very much for your comments, We are happy to know that you enjoyed the Wedding at Zephyr Palace and the rest of event. It is true that some of our rooms need a "little" walk and some stairs to climb. Nevertheless the distance between our rooms insure a quiet and private stay for all our guests. We beleive it is worth the walk in the tropical gardens.

Excellent Experience from beginning to end. Staff was top notch, exceeded every expectation.

Product was outstanding and memorable, a "once in a lifetime" experience for most. Staff went above an beyond to service our group.

Food was outstanding in restaurants and at catered functions.

Room Tip: Master Suites are very private & offer an awesome view.
