We arrived at 1 ...were sent to beach for 3 hours...finally got our room...iit had two single beds...we took a quick shower...no hot water...then it got really hot for a second then freezing cold....the room is very dated and kind of resembles a closet...the light it the bathroom blinks on and off...theres air..but the windows dontclose....when we asked for one big bed...not usually an issue...they showed us a bigger room but insisted we pay an additional 25 a night....you are kind of stuck in the resort as it takes 15 minutes to get in here...the beach is far...need a car...shuttles are not dependable...cant find tthe towel shack....the internet inly works in the lobby and restaurant....does not work in Selvamar rooms...dumpy...the beach chairs are chained together and in shade....the front desk was helpful but management wouldnt budge ....they supposedly came to fix our room...they moved our beds together making it a queen size lol...and the light and shower were supposedly fixrd....not We will not Ever return to this resort...Go to Byblos or Arenal Lodge...much much nicer....

Two things that struck me when I used TripAdvisor to see the reviews for this hotel: 1. The hotel management only responded to positive comments, not those that outline specific problems. 2. The less than positive comments made by visitors mentioned the size and difficulty in getting around...it seemed to be the common theme. As I was committed to this place (long story), I hoped for the best. Cleanliness was never an issue, but the rooms are basically motel rooms (Think Motel 6)....a hard concrete bench outside the front door looking at your neighbour's front door. Last comment concerns the idea of gated resorts...I never liked them and the necessity of obtaining a pass to exit and then re-enter the property reinforces my feeling of being captive....especially in a non-inviting (service-wise) atmosphere.

I first stayed here five years ago and remembered I wasn't impressed with the lodging. Although I was reluctant to return this visit, I did since we didn't want to waste time driving to the northern coast. The beach is incredible although I wish there were more guest lounge chairs. Again we stayed in the condos and again I was not impressed. It seems like the little touches are neglected (shower head needed replaced, bathroom door wouldn't close, no blankets even for the wall bed, only a set of sheets). It felt more like a Motel 6 with a Hilton price tag. The staff are friendly, but they could take advantage of technology and upgrade their processes and systems. Food was ok. We stayed only a few days mid-week and left on Friday when all the locals were arriving which filled the place quickly.

I took some out of country friends to Restaurant Leona Mar for dinner. One of my friends ordered a club sandwich that had 4 pieces of dry toast (no mayonaise) no lettuce, one tiny piece of bacon. It looked like they had run out of food and this was the remaining table scraps made into a sandwich. The other plates that we ordered were very dry and overcooked. I will never eat at this dump again, this was very embarrasing for me since I invited my friends out for dinner. Not only was the food horrible but they tried to charge $9.00 for the sandwich.
