Owner description: Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.

“Ship Shore excursion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

As a part of a Celebrity shore excursion, stopped for lunch and a few hours at the Gardens. Wonderful lunch, great options, great service. Really took pride in thier piece of our day. Very nice visits with the garden owners David and Cindy. Transplanted Texans, so our travel buddies had a good time visiting about "being from" Texas. We FINALLY saw some monkeys at this location. Not in a cage, but actually a couple in some trees. This was our second trip to Costa Rica, the second time hoping to see some wild monkeys. About time! The gardens are nicely kept, and small enough to complete in a couple hours. Hightly recommend this stop.

“Great gardens and waterfalls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

This is a fantastic attraction with large dining area, store, and beautiful gardens. Takes at least one hour to see all the grounds and waterfalls. Would recommend when in the area of Jaco, Costa Rica. We filled up three large buses with cruise folks and had plenty of room to explore the gardens. Met the owner who was very pleasant and fun to be around.

“Beautiful Gardens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We had a very interesting ride up the mountain road, the road was under construction and we had some very anxious moments when the bus got hung up in the gravel and there were some very steep drop offs over the side of the road.
Once we got to the gardens, the place was was truly beautiful, many paths and stairs allow you to tour the beautiful gardens with many different species of plants (my wife loved the orchids).
The view of the waterfall and valley below were outstanding.
David and his staff keep the gardens in fantastic shape,
One comment I must make; we were on a tour from a cruise ship, the ship describes this tour as a "Mild" excursion, I would beg to differ, there were several senior's in our group and the stairs and steep pathways were just too much for several of them and they had to sit out the last bit of the garden tour.

“Beautiful gardens, great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

It is a long, winding road up to Pura Vida Gardens but really worth it. The gardens are beautiful with many different species of plants and flowers. The sighting of two colorful parrots was the highlight. The area is perfectly kept with lovely walkways and well-maintained steps.

“A picture paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

We recently had the pleasure to visit these gardens on a tour from a cruise ship and found them to be absolutely beautiful. The perfectly manicured gardens, paths and lookouts are so lovely that we could have spent the whole day there. Our tour guide was very knowledged on the trees, flowers and habits of the vegetation which was so helpful. We saw so many hummingbirds and other birds while there. The butterflies are plentiful as well. The owners of this paradise were so friendly and accommodating. There is a lovely gift shop there, food and drink available and there is an area that they can cater an event with food and drinks. We as a bus tour had the most delicious fruit served to us. It was very fresh and yummy. You are at the top of a mountain area and can see for miles from the lookout near the falls. The dirt road was very windy but lovely sites along the way. It is to be paved next year. We would highly recommend these gardens.
