Owner description: Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.

“This place is just beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Since we went in February (the dry season) the rest of the "rainforest" wasn't very "rainy" and looking pretty sad. So the gardens were a welcomed sight and we were able to get the idea of what the forest looks like when the rains come. Had a wonderful lunch there and saw such beautiful sights including Scarlet Macaws flying through the valley!

“Beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

I enjoyed the gardens very much. The flowers, trees, views were fabulous. The waterfall was a bit far away - but you could see it. Lunch was delicious.

“Beautiful manacured gardens”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

The gardens were beautiful, the hike was not too strenuous, although there are many stairs. The waterfall was a little disappointing, not too bid and the view was a little far away, The drive up to the gardens is steep, and winding and unpaved. The cost to go on the little walk was a little more than we expected. Nice gift shop and clean restrooms.

“Garden/waterfall tour w/lunch & Rainforest Skywalk swinging bridges”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We booked this tour thru Princess Cruise line that included lunch/tour @ Pura Vida Gardens & a rain forest sky walk. Lunch served buffet style on the open air patio was good, drinks a little disappointing, no iced tea after a long afternoon of hiking.
Our tour guide Raynor & driver Eric spoke excellent English & were very interesting & friendly, great ambassadors for the tour company & Costa Rica. It was still the dry season on our visit, very little water running over the falls, but the sweeping views & plants were beautiful & worth the drive up the road. We did see a pair of macaws fly over the valley & some butterflies, but no other animals.
The sky walk swinging bridge tour is in need of some maintenance, handrails deteriorating & some steps are sliding down the hill. Easy for us, but some on our tour really struggled to keep up, better evacuation plans for those persons is needed. There are 5 bridges, we only got to see 3, a little disappointing.

“A nice walk through the jungle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

It was a long drive up the dirt road but the road was in excellent shape and they were working on it while we were there. The trails through the jungle felt like we were really in the jungle and we enjoyed seeing the foliage, a few birds and some butterflies. The other paths were very well kept with a lot of planted foliage, typical plants in Costa Rica. The waterfall was not much of a sight (in the dry season) and was quite far away from the lookout. They could have left waterfall off of the advertising. The waterfall was visible from the Adventure Dining platform (we did not do dinner--pretty pricey) but we did see a pair of Macaws fly over the valley--that was beautiful! The gift shop was nice.
