“Wonderful Tacos - Lousy Coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

I had a light dinner at the Tacobar. This was two fish tacos that were absolutely wonderful. The best fish tacos I've had since Baja. One was dorado and the other squid. Both were perfect and there is a nice offering of assorted hot sauces. Now, $11 for 2 tacos is not an inexpensive meal. That said, Jacó is tourist central and generally expensive. 5 stars for everything but the price!

I give the lady at the ordering window high marks for her clear explanation of how to order the tacos - the menu is pretty busy. I heard her doing an equally clear presentation in English with another customer.

The next morning I was in a bit of a hurry to get going and Tacobar was the closest open place to my hotel. They advertise a $3 breakfast - something I found suspicious. In fact, they will give you one of several options for $3, plus tax. However, a smallish cup of low quality coffee will add $2, plus tax, to your bill. No refills or warmups. In all, it will be close to double the advertised $3 for your meal.

They really seemed to be pushing assorted pricey frappuccinos and smoothies. The breakfast (rice and beans, eggs, a salad, and plain white bread) was fine, but I object to the $3 come-on. I don't do well without some real caffeine in the AM.

Really, you can do as well, or better, in any of a number of places in central Jacó. You can also get an honest cup of joe and, perhaps, either real home baked bread or tortillas.

“Best restaurant during entire stay in Costa Rica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Swings for chairs?!? At a bar?!? Great food, too!?! Best value, best fish tacos, fun! First, you pick how many tacos you want, then what type of fish and how you want them cooked, then you gain access to the Mediterranean salad bar to dress them. Delicious! Oh, and don't pass up the brownie with ice cream. Enough for 2 or 3 to share! Wish I were there now...

“A must for a great meal in Jaco!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

My husband and I and another couple went to Tacobar a few days ago while in Jaco. The food and atmosphere were great! We had an array of tacos, including mahi, tuna, chicken, steak and shrimp. They were great, but the fresh add-ons at the bar pushed them over the edge! We will definitely be back to the Tacobar!

“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

This was our first meal while in Jaco and my boyfriend loved this place. They have several options to choose from with tacos of course being the main fare. They let u pick the type of fish you want in your taco and then they have a salad bar with all sorts if goodies. Worth a visit for sure!
