“You get for what you pay”

Awful hotel. Poor customer service as the guy in reception is rude. Old TV in the room, you cannot adjust the A/C. Wifi only works in the closer rooms to the reception.

We stayed 3 days and we didn't have hot water from the shower on the last day.

When we checked out, the guy was speaking on the phone.
He didn't even bother to pause to say thanks. He just accepted the keys and continued talking. They obviously do not care about customers.

It's not even that close to Jaco downtown. You have to walk for a while for the nice restaurants and bars.

Avoid!!! I don't even know how they got a 2012 TripAdvisor award they show in reception.

Much more than expected. After staying in hotels from 5 stars to -1 this was an unexpectedly good stay. Ok there is construction next store, but a short walk to the "strip" and beach made it good. The Aircon works well and what do you do on a holiday in your room that needs the lights on? Yes this is a little rough (to US standards) but still good. And there is a secluded pool to relax in after a long day.

First off, avoid Jaco at all costs. It is dirty, expensive, and unsafe (my backpack with my passport and phone in it were stolen out of our car there). That being said, Blue Palms is still not a nice hotel. The rooms are stale and have a horrible chemical smell, and the ground floor rooms have no windows, so you can't air the room out. The beds were uncomfortable, and with thin sheets and no comforter. Worst was the lighting: exposed flourescent bulbs. I said what you're saying: "Who cares about the decor as long as it is clean and cheap?" Then we spent a night here on an otherwise nice vacation, and it depressed the hell out of us. The hotel policies make you feel somewhat shady, how they have to inspect the room before you get your deposit slip back.

On the bright side the staff was friendly and helpful, and the electric heaters on the shower work. The room was only $49 with taxes. I don't think they are doing an awful job for being in Jaco, but until they can fix the smell and buy some light shades I can't rate them higher. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the beaches a little further south, they are amazing and only 20 min from Jaco.

Room Tip: Do not take a downstairs room.

nothing really good to say.. the desk clerk was kinda rude.. no soap, shampoo and toilet paper. the clerks response was as I asked him for a pint of blood.. and then the girl who came to our room with soap and TP was just down right nasty.. like it was 'too much work: for her to give us these things.. AC will shut off in the middle of the night.. really bad sheets.. pool had drunk kids.. I will NEVER stay here again.. all the bad reviews are true.. that "good" one must have been written by the owner.

Room Tip: there are no good rooms.

STILL construction next door...basic rooms, good price. Pool, small but does the job. A little further from the action and beach.....wouldn't want to walk back from a bar to this hotel on my own and I'm not the type to be very nervous.....Would pay a little more next time....

the A/C only works when you're in the room, you have to press a button when you get into the room to turn the electricity on, and our system glitched and turned off in the middle of the night! our window was mysteriously opened at some point in the night, we believe due to the not so ideal location. And we were sore the next morning from how terrible the beds were!

Hotel waas very affordable...staff was very helpful finding tours and taxis/rides to arenal as well as a good recommendation for places to stay and things to do...downside...major construction next door , but as one reviewer said I did not come to sleep...noise starts at 630 til 4 pm...I am an early riser so no problem....if you rise early I would recommend it...just down the street from a great food place...The Taco Bar...good breakfast great meal all the time...cold beer too
