This was my first trip to Costa Rica, and I found Las Camas by way of Trip Advisor reviews right here. Edit and Chaba were great hosts, they are both absolutely the most wonderful Hungaricans you could hope to find anywhere. I stayed for a week, then headed South to Dominical, but made sure I came back before leaving from San Jose.
The hostel is no longer across the street from KFC, as that building has become the Theatre Jaco. It's not far away though, just down the road. Look for the photo of the gate online and there are directions too. Chaba kept the pool clean twice a day, which was no small task since it's under a couple of trees. Las Camas is very much a product of Edit and Chaba's hospitality. We shared the kitchen and the bbq, and even though Chaba cannot be beaten in any fair game of beer pong, it's worth trying anyway. I took surfing lessons while there and had a great time, much to the amusement of fellow surfers. I'm not sure that what I was doing was, technically, surfing. But it was fun nonetheless.
I would go back to Costa Rica just to see these guys again, and you will too! While in Costa Rica, I stayed at a resort in Manuel Antonio and also in Dominical, and Las Camas wins hands down. It's just a great place if you want to feel like you're at home, and very relaxed.
