“Nice Jaco setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014 via mobile

My family purchased a groupon for a three night stay at Club del Cielo. For my wife, two sons and myself this was an excellent value when compared to other accommodation situations in Costa Rica that we experienced. We were in a nice two bedroom/two bath condo with a full kitchen, washer/dryer as well as a nice outdoor sitting area. Just outside the condo is a very nice pool. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and maintained. This condo complex has 24 hour security and believe me, in Jaco you need it. There is a security office manned 24/7 at the entrance and then at night another security guard walks the property in the dark (can be a little startling until you get used to him).
We did have a faulty AC unit in our condo that was a bit of a problem, management addressed it when we brought it to their attention but they just couldn't get it fixed right. We also found the breakfast/ coffee service to be unreliable, it was not served in the timeframe outlined by management everyday.
I want to make a special mention of Nancy who works in the office during the day and is perfectly delightful. Nancy is an asset to this operation and helped us with our small problems as well as helping with our activity plans and directions for the area. Thank you Nancy for being so helpful and GO STEELERS!

Spent 4 nights in Condo 5, first floor right in front of the pool. The condo was very clean and spacious. Our place had one king bed and sofa bed, A/C, ceiling fans, full kitchen including microwave, dishes (utensils and pots and pans), washer and dryer in and I loved that they had double sinks in the bathroom! This place was well worth the price. Breakfast was complimentary until 10:30 and the bar stayed open "allegedly" all day and some of the night. That's the only negative I will give this place... After breakfast no one was ever at the bar to get drinks?? Weird because its a fully stocked bar. The pool is awesome, very clean and a good size to swim laps.

The location was great if your not into staying "on the strip". You can walk to main street during the day in about 5-10 minutes or cab for $1-$2. I'm pretty sure you'd be fine walking at night but i would try it unless you had to. It's also right across the street from the casino Morgans Cove. 10-15 minute drive to Hermosa Beach. The restaurant next store Resturante Santa Ana was one of our favorite spots for authentic Costa Rican dishes. They had great food and prices were reasonable. Tsunami for sushi was also good, its american owned and has a great vibe.

We didn't interact with the office staff much because there really was no need. Housekeeping came daily and were very nice. You can make local calls for free in your room, wifi is free and it actually works really well SURPRISE! Didn's see a fitness room but they did offer massages for $60 an hour and they came to your room.

I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 5 is ground level and in front of the pool, wasn't noisy.

I spent 3 nights in a very nice 2 room apartment with some family and friends. Really enjoyed the place, was very clean with everything you need for a nice vacations on the beach. It´s close to the main street of Jaco, in daylight I will say at walking distance at night not so sure. But overall it was good looking place with nice pool and also breakfast included, I will definitely come back!

We stayed here for 3 weeks with a group of friends. It is a nice small condo complex with a great pool. The front desk staff were helpful, the cleaning staff were great and the maintenance staff were fantastic at keeping the grounds beautiful. We stayed in condo 6 with a full kitchen (needs new frying pans), a bathroom no bath tub, and a bedroom with a king bed. It was big enough for the 2 of us. The only complaints I have are the TV in the living room was very small and only had 4 or 5 English channels, the couch was filthy and uncomfortable and the TV in the bedroom was a big old style box one. After complaining about the couch, they traded it with one that was less dirty and not broken. Apparently the complex is going to be doing some upgrades and the living room furniture is one of them.
We were about 2 blocks from the ocean and a 15 minute walk from town.
The chef at the restaurant in the condo is amazing! However he does not speak or understand a word of English! Although we didn't eat at the restaurant much we enjoyed what we did eat. It's sad that the restaurant is so slow, BUT a big suggestion to the manager would be to have the chef walk around when people are sitting at the pool and give samples of some of the food. We would have easily bought lunch or appetizers had he done that. Just a suggestion!
All in all this was a great condo complex and we had a ton of fun in the Jaco area. (Group of 10) We never had any major issues and Nancy was quick to help whenever we needed her!

Thanks to the great staff at Cielo!

Room Tip: Room #4 is 2 bedroom but was beautiful!

Stayed for a few nights and had a great time here. The place was well-kept, staff was super-helpful, security guards close by 'round the clock, great location, and the condos were just way better than any hotel room or suite for a comparable price.

There's maybe 10 or 12 rules that you must agree to when checking in which as I recall seemed aimed at keeping prostitutes out, noise down, and facilities clean. They seem to be angling for a family-friendly atmosphere so keep your activities G-rated outside the bedroom. If you plan to party or bring strangers back to your room then this is not the hotel for you. I was traveling with my girlfriend and after walking around in Jaco we enjoyed returning to this relaxing, squeaky-clean oasis each evening.

The condos were well-equipped with a washer and dryer (VERY useful), air conditioning, and full kitchen including dishwasher, refrigerator, dishes and even wine glasses. The condos and facilities were well-kept and clean. We did not have any issues with bugs here. The pool water was very refreshing and not over-chlorinated (Note: Pool "closes" at 10pm), and there was an outdoor rinse station which we found useful after walking back from the beach. The beds used somewhat firm spring mattresses, but were still pretty comfortable. No gym or spa as far as I saw.

Location is good. It's about 2 blocks away from the closest beach, and maybe a 10 minute walk to downtown Jaco. Taxis hang out a couple blocks away at a busy corner waiting for tourists so pick-up time is quick, and it costs about 700-1200CRC to get to any destination near the main strip in downtown Jaco. The guards are happy to call a taxi for you any time. There's a supermarket called "Mas X Menos" (which AFAIK translates to "More for less" and is owned by Wal-Mart) downtown where you can pick up fresh fruits and items to stock the kitchen.

I think my only complaint was that that the shower doors are poorly designed (at least in our condo). If we weren't careful water would easily spill out of the shower onto the floor. We had to get maybe 6 extra towels to sop up all the water that spilled over the bathroom floor. This was a bit of an adventure because the office staff (who seemed proficient in English) are unavailable after around 7pm, and the security guards didn't speak much English. Fortunately wifi is free so you can easily pull up Google Translator if you need to ask for something simple. Hopefully they can fix the shower door problem and avoid unnecessary hazards or rotting the wall alongside the floor.

Long story short this is a great spot for relaxing, family-friendly vacationing near the beach!

This place was lovely. The staff was mostly friendly and the place is very well maintained. We had been traveling for almost a week when we arrived here for 3 nights - so the kitchen and laundry were appreciated. They do provide a decent breakfast too! It is a nice walk to the main street of Jaco. The two things we had a problem with was the 2 block walk to the beach - it is about 2 city blocks however part of it is on a main road with a section not having a sidewalk - we were adults so not an issue. Also while the staff is supposed to be bilingual the night guards were not. We had put a towel over the gate around our porch - which is illegal (was not in the list of rules we signed at the beginning) and the guard walked by and then went back to his office to call us to tell us to remove the towel. I could not understand him and kept asking for a moment to get my son who was fluent - but his response was to start yelling at me. We finally figured out the problem and removed the towel - would have been easier if he just pointed to it when he walked by. We noticed that the place was mostly empty and so asked for a 2 hour delay in checking out. We were given 1 hour - even though we confirmed that no one was checking into our condo that night. Also read the list of rules they have you sign - the one about a $20 charge to remove a used condom - really made me wonder about the place. While we were there - we only saw families.

I stayed here with some friends for a few days in Jaco. The manager was extremely helpful in arranging transportation for our excursions and to the airport, the rooms were big and affordable (ours came with a full kitchen), and it's a $2-3 cab ride to downtown Jaco and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The pool was really big and relaxing, and since we were here in the rainy season we more or less had our run of the place. Would definitely stay here again!
