I stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Playa Bejuco as part of a group supporting a cross-country adventure race, where Playa Bejuco was the finish line. The hotel is a pleasant place, with air-conditioned rooms and a modern feel (lots of black and red). Our room overlooked a property that used to be a getaway for the University of Costa Rica, but is no longer used and thus has a bit of an abandoned quality to it. The beach itself is just a short walk down the road. The black sand beach is very nice, and there were not many people using it, even on the weekend, so it did not feel at all crowded. The water in the pool looked a bit cloudy (I did not swim in it). The dining room was fine -- not "fine dining", but the food was decent. The hotel advertises itself as a family hotel. It is perfectly acceptable for someone looking for a quiet, clean accommodation at a more modest price.
