july 2 2008 i had stayed the last 3 years at a tent camp next to the corcovado park. the costa rican south pacific is the best place in costa rica because of its remotness. i was searching the golfo dulce and piedras blancas area on google earth. google earth has enhanced software that lets you go down to 300ft. around the rio esquinas i saw a google panoramio blue bulb and i clicked on it. a photo of the saladero lodge came up. it was very close to the rio esquinas. i checked it out on google and tripadvisor and i said why not. i contacted the owners and booked for a week in may. it turned out to be the best place i have stayed at in costa rica. harvey woodard and his wife barbara have a very well maintained property (400 plus acrea nestled right up to primary rainforest) it is very remote. the only way in is by boat. the food was great and they have 2 kayaks for guest use. they also have snorkle and fishing gear. i spent most of my time on the golfo dulce and rio esquinas. something i could not do over on the osa pacific side as the ocean was too rough for non surfing activities. i will definitlely be back next may
