The Tortuga Lodge and Gardens is my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. You can only get here by boat or by plane... no roads. A truly remote getaway!
The pool is spectacular and the gardens are filled filled beautiful flora, plus, birds, birds, and more birds. You can see, Tucan, Trogon, Heron, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, frogs, snakes, and lizards...big lizards ;)
They have rubber boots in all sizes, so you can explore the forrest without ruining your shoes. The jungle forrest can be muddy, and therefore it's got mosquitoes. If you forget your spray, the lodge has some for you. I don't really like using bug spray, but if you don't want to be eaten alive by mos'ies, I suggest using lot's of it!
The Lodge will set up a boat tour through the canals of the Tortugero NP! It's a must do!
One of my favorite things about the Lodge is waking up to the sounds of the Howler monkeys. The rooms have screens for windows, so you can take in all the sounds and smells of paradise.
