We looked at this clean little place on our way up the coast as the boat to Nicaragua left from there. It appeared to be fairly new and well kept. It is right on the canal, across from the Sunrise Cafe (great eats), half way to the park entrance from the public dock. They have 10 rooms.
The Princessa group consists of 3 Tortuguero hotels, of which we stayed at two, but not this one. The other two are the Princessa del Mar which is on the beach a little north of the soccer field and the Cabinas Pricessa which is a little further south and about 4 houses off the ocean. The 30 year old classic Caribbean style 2 story del Mar was great, with large private grounds and its own restarant and is run by "Wanna" an english speaking, capable and pleasant lady. The other Princessa, was "not so good" although it appears newer and has air conditioning. It appears poorly constructed, not well managed, had ants in the bed (they can be expected on the walls & floors) and is in a noisy location. Prices at all three places were in the $30 US per night range for two people.
