We wanted an accommodation near Puerto Viejo that had a pool and was by the beach. Azania is a short walk to the beach, down a dirt path and across the road but you cannot see the ocean at all from the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful. However, the bungalows are very, very dark and depressing and were quite hot! They have heavy wood lattice on the outside of the window openings and each window has black screening on the inside. Even in daytime, you cannot see a thing inside without the lights and it's nearly impossible to read. We had to move our bed closer to the door in order to take advantage of the overhead fan -- the bed is normally positioned underneath the loft floor and gets no air circulation from the fan. We were very disappointed with the pool; it was a greenish color (which they told us is how it is painted, but it looked greener than any photos we saw on the various websites) and it was cloudy so we ended up not using it. Unfortunately, we had booked for 4 nights and their strict cancellation policy did not allow us to check out early without forfeiting 100% of our money. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it. Also, the food in the restaurant was not very good.
