Hotel Boutique Indalo is a new option in Puerto Viejo as it was opened a few months ago. The rooms are spacious, with a noce design and somewhat simple. However, you do not need much more than they have (or, maybe you do, if you like your pillows on the softer side!)
Cristina and Carlos are super friendly and will go out of their way to provide recommendations on what to do and to make you feel at home.
It is a very good place to meet other laid back travellers.

Stayed here for 4 nights.

Pros:
- big room. Basic, but everything you need, so why need more?!
- nice owners
- free wifi, also in room
- own sitting area in front of room
- just at the back of town, quiet place, but still only max 5 min walk to downtown and beach
- good beds
- hot shower


Cons:
- room can get pretty warm during the day. You need to get the warm air out at night by opening the door (there are fans in the room as well)
- not too much parking area around (and neighbours around complaining), but it worked while we were there.
- rooms smell like concrete, as everything inside is made of concrete is well.

Breakfast not included, but you can get it by a fair price (didn't use it).

Overall really good stay for the price you pay ($45 per night, high season 55)!!

Hotel Boutique Indalo is the ideal place to stay on the Caribbean Coast, perfectly located, in the very heart of wildlife and at the same time near to restaurants and quiet beaches. Cristina and Carlos are super friendly hosts, full of advices and good ideas. If you like quiet and well-designed places, DO NOT MISS IT. I forget something: Their breakfasts are gorgeous.... Christina greets you with hand extended and her chef/husband passes the cheese and charcuterie. I LOVE these rooms. They are simple and spacious with a roomy indoor/outdoor feel and ample cubby with shelves for your stuff. The bathroom spans the back of the room, plenty of space to shower and peel out of wet suit. One small point off for the low-grade mattress.

Christina shared two restaurants recommendations - both were excellent. She even walked us over to one and shared a drink with us.

The grounds are gravel surrounded by a bright garden area. All rooms look directly into the middle. Breakfast is outside under a rain proof awning. Parking was a bit tight and you had to jump over puddles - but that's Costa Rica.

I loved our stay there and wish Indalo every success. Would definitely stay there again. Easy walking access to everywhere in Puerto Viejo.
