Cabinas Jacaranda was a really cute place that made us feel welcome in Puerto Viejo. Vera (the ownder) and the other lady working at the front desk made big efforts to ensure our room was ready for us and really tried to make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible. Vera was especially warm and welcoming!

There is a large central garden with beautiful plants, and a small central area with two hammocks that were great to rest in. The tiled floor, artwork, and handpainted decorations made this place absoultely charming.

The shared bathroom was no problem at all- conveniently located outside of our room. Our room had its own shower as well but the hot water didn't work- we didn't even miss it though because it was so hot outside. We were thankful for the mosquito net over the bed! Aside from a lizard and some bugs that got inside, the room was clean, hand painted, and just the right size. The main gate is locked at night and each guest is provided with a key to access it at night for extra security.

A side note- there were fireworks constantly going off during the middle of the night because it was close to New Year's and dogs barked all night too. This was a bit disruptive but the Vera (the owner) was well aware of this and provided us with earplugs.

Once you enter Cabinas Jacaranda, you're in another world! Beautiful garden surrounds the arty cabinas complete with colourful murals and luscious flowers. Hammocks abound and there's a restaurant and a yoga area. It's also quite near to the main drag, so you don't end up walking down those badly lit roads on your tod in the dark late at night.

The owner was very friendly and accomodating, though she did tell me the only room available was for 4 people, pricey for a lone traveller, but I took it as I was spellbound by the place, after a few hours of chilling in paradise lodge, I did in fact realise, there were loads of empty smaller rooms on sight. maybe they were reserved for later on that day? After all, she told me she hated charging so much for a single person....nope, they were still empty next morn. Bad move lady. So, ended up paying more than was necessary, which made me move on to a more honest place the following day.
