I agree with everything posted above about the cleanliness and nice grounds of Coco Loco... the only problem seems to be the theft! I did not hear one mention of that at the Lodge before I went to PV, and while I am not sure it would have swayed me, it became a problem once we were there.
You should be fine if you use the triple-locked door and close your window at night. However, there was no explanation of how to use all three locks, nor any mention of a theft problem in the first place. My friend's hut was broken into in the middle of the night and someone rifled through their belongings and made off with a bunch while they were asleep in the bed. As you can imagine, the police, but more surprising, the management, had heard it all before and were of little help... once it was done, it was done. Personally, we had two pairs of shorts taken off the porch, in the grand scheme it was a small price to pay.
I felt the management was a little too stern for my tastes, being that they are in the hospitality industry and all. It felt like we were bothering them on most occasions.
The biggest plus has to be Miss Helena, who runs the soda on the neighboring property. Her food was excellent and she was very helpful and kind.

“Great Place”

We stayed in one of the wooden cabins with a kitchen - it was great. Very clean and plenty of room for 2. TV, warm/hot water, hammock on porch. The only downside was mosquitoes getting through the net surrounding the bed. It was quiet since it wasn’t on the main road (a big plus), but is a very short walk to the restaurants, stores, etc.

“Amazing Spot”

Beautiful place, well maintained with excellent cabins (get one with a kitchen). Owner lives on site and is very helpful. Speaks German, Spanish, English and maybe more. We stayed for 4 days and went further down the beach to stay somewhere that was supposedly nicer. We were wrong as the "nicer" place was about three steps below the coco (it was the Playa Chiquita if you must know). Cocoloco is one of the nicest places there and is by far the nicest for the price range. Also, ask about horse rentals for a really great afternoon - around $20 an hour for riding on the beach on excellent horses(not overworked like many horses there). Overall a great place.

Loved this place! Coco Loco is just on the edge of town, within walking distance of everything. And yet, with it's beautifully manicured grounds you'd think you were miles away from the city.

We stayed in one of the smaller semi-detached cabins for 2 nights. It was small-yes, but very clean, with private bathroom, hot water, great mosquito netting that tucks neatly under the matress (you'll be glad you have this for the bugs), shelving and hanging space, satellite TV (rare in CR-good for rainy days), and a private deck with hammock and a fold-out table. All this for only US$30 night (we went in green season).

The hotel owner was very friendly and offers a buffet breakfast for US$5. There is ample parking available and they close the main gate at night for security. Need laundry done? There's a lady just outside the main gate that has laundry services.

Would gladly stay here again, great value!
