“Great Ceviche!”

I live in Puerto Viejo and often stop by Mopri for ceviche. It is very good. And their fish dinners are excellent.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

they serve an awesome peruvian style ceviche, meaning served in lemon juice. very tasty, and a great price.

you can also buy fresh fish from the other side of Mopri.

Definitely check it out for lunch or dinner!

“Fish feast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

This was our last stop before we had to leave Puerto viejo and come back to real life, but I am happy that my last taste of PV was the great fish and delicious Ceviche from Mopri.

“As fresh as fish and seafood can be... Mopri, Puerto Viejo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

There's no luxury. The seating is between the side walk and the kitchen but everything is clean and well kept. This place was recommended to us by a local, tico resident by saying that whenever she wanted fish, that's were she went (and she worked for another restaurant, mind you, not specialized in sea food. The waitress will show you the menu, explain things and will ask the chef if the variation you requested can be made. Usually the answer is yes. We asked for a grilled octopus, not on the list, and we got it, Superb. The ceviche is prepared when you ask for it, not before. The large pargo (red snapper) feeds 2-3. And the prices are very reasonable.

Right next to the restaurant is the "pescadería" where you can buy whatever they have, corvina (sea bass), marlin, pargo, crabs, shrimp and everything is really fresh. This was a great experience in a place that has many places to offer but only a few are worth reporting. They are open from noon to 9 PM, late night for P. Viejo standards.

The place is very easy to get to to but easy to miss: As you drive or walk on the main road toward the South from P. Viejo, by the end of the numerous stalls selling beads and other trinkets, across the street, on your right as you go, look for the sign MOPRI: CEVICHES Y SOPA DE PESCADO (this could change, I guess)
