Owner description: It is our pleasure to introduce to you Terraventuras Jungle Expeditions. We are a well established and certified tour agency in Costa Rica since 1998. We provide tours with a dynamic team of experienced local guides who will make the tours interesting, enriching and with great fun. We can make up any package suitable to your needs, including transportation, accommodations and various tours throughout Costa Rica; however we are specialized in the Caribbean area. Some of the tours provided are:- Adventure tours; such as canopy, Jungle adventure and horseback riding. - Animal watching tours; such as snorkeling, animal watching and hiking in a national park. - Cultural tours; such as Cacaco farm tour, Indian reserve, Sloth hospital and rescue centers. - Trips to other destinations; such as Panama City and Bocas del Toro in Panama, Tortuguero turtle reserve, Arenal Volcano and many other destinations all over Costa Rica. Safety is a must for us! Therefore we have all the certifications and insurance from the Costa Rica tourism board as well as all the other insurances needed. We operate out of Puerto Viejo, which is a small town located at the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. It is rich in nature and culture. Inhabitants have an interesting cultural mix of Afro-Caribbean, Bribri Indian and ticos . Puerto Viejo has several spectacular areas that are even of international importance. It includes protected areas such as Cahuita National Park and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Refuge. Recently Puerto Viejo has become a tourist’s hot spot, due to the, white-sand beaches, tropical vegetation and the relaxing laidback atmosphere! The town has an authentic atmosphere and is rich of nice bars and restaurants with reasonable prices.

“Good company, but success depends on the guide.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

The upside: we had a great guide on our nature trips with this company. His name is Alex and he is a native, an excellent photographer and a a biologist so he knows a lot of things and can take great pictures for you. The trips we went on: Cahuita, and Kekoldi were nice. Kekoldi is a bit long, and sometimes steep, but in no way strenuous.
The downside: you have to expect to wait about an hour depending on where your hotel is to gather all the guests, to have the driver arrive, etc, even when you are going alone with the guide like our group did. Usually the trips start after 8 am, which means that you arrive in nature at around 9:30-10 depending on your luck. This is past the time when some animals are active, so you see them tucked away on remote branches sleeping, but there are plenty of the to see anyway. Bring you binoculars and 20x+ zoom lens. The zip lines are popular expensive, but not as special as one might expect. Depending on group size they can take longer or be faster. Ours was way longer than promised.

“Incredible zipline experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

I went on the jungle adventure on March 16th with Balo and Andres, two fantastic guides! We ziplined across the rain forest, rappeled to a swimming hole, crossed a valley on a tarzan swing - I recommend this experience to anyone. We also learned a lot about the forest and the different animals that we spotted. Thank you so much to our guides.

“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

We did zip-lining and took a guide into the Bri Bri reservation to learn about herbal medicine and chocolate making. Our tour guide was bi-lingual, friendly and we felt very safe. The Canopy Tour is a must if you are in the area! My son is 10 and we both agree that it was the highlight of our time in Costa Rica.

“Fantastic views and experience through the jungle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

What an exhilerating experience! Great and friendly staff help guide you and make you feel more comfortable. A great way to meet others, while traveling through the jungle. If you're lucky, you will even see sloths and monkeys. I would highly recommend trying this. It's the best and hopefully one day I will be back to do it again!

“Unforgettable Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

The Canopy Tour was an amazing experience!! I went with a friend and we had the best time of our lives. The guides were so kind and sweet, which made all the difference. They were so patient and extremely knowledgeable about not just the tour but the rainforest and the wildlife within the unique parts of Costa Rica. We learned so much and had a blast. I was never scared and felt completely safe the entire time...even being so high up!! I could go on and on about how great this experience was but I will let you all have your own adventure and write about it after. Thank you so much to our amazing guides!!
