The restaurant can't be missed, it's a two story victorian looking building that's painted violet and there's a huge sign hanging on the front of it that spells out "Veronica's!". It's right in the middle of the town, and everyone knows her and her husband.
So it's vegan food... you'd NEVER know it; it was easily the best food I ate in 3 weeks of being all over Costa Rica. Bursting with flavors you can't imagine, with good texture and appealing presentation. The coconut milk is served in a coconut with a straw. Get it!
We were traveling through and loved the little Caribbean seaside town (and Veronica's) so much that we decided to stay at her bed and breakfast. We wound up in an upstairs bungalow with a mosquito netting covered bunk bed and full size bed. Small shower stall and only a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom, but it was one of those simple jewels of a place; very clean, simple, peaceful and wonderful. We loved everything about it! $15 for a night, $20 if you want breakfast in the morning. It was the best money and the best time spent in all of our expansive trip to Costa Rica.
We opted for breakfast, which is served at the house. Fresh fruits and Jamaican dishes we'd never heard of and LOVED, so healthy, so tasty and good! Veronica and her husband were beyond kind and helpful, they made us feel as though we were visiting old friends instead of new ones. They took such great care of us!
Sometimes in our lives, we wind up in the most amazing places with the most incredible people, and it's unexpected, unplanned, and totally unforgettable. This is one of those places, and these are those people.
The beach is a two minute walk down a little dirt road. There are palm and fruit trees everywhere. The pace of the town is slow and easy going. No rush. No worry. No time. Just Pura Vida... which you should know about if you go anywhere in Costa Rica, and it's good for the body, the soul and the mind.
Good to know: there are small grocery stores there in case you forgot anything and Veronica as well as most of the town take US Dollars.
Don't miss it!!
