“Delicious, lovely and refreshing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2010

Located on one of the main, small cross-streets in Puerto Viejo's small downtown, this is a great place to have lunch. We ordered one ham and cheese and one desert crepe with pineapple and ice cream. Both were so wonderful that we could have doubled the order and been in tummy-satiated heaven. Lovely, simple atmosphere with attentive staff and an open kitchen, Sel et Sucre is a place you can stop by for a light and delicious meal and have it become a highlight of your day. The blended juices also were lovely and refreshing on a very hot afternoon.

“Best crepes I've ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2010

This little restaurant was wonderful... the atmosphere and music was very cool, and the crepes were pretty much the best I've ever had. I didn't have any coffee, but my boyfriend said the mocha he had was amazing as well

“An authentic place for French (Breton) pencakes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2010

This is a nice place for a change if you have had enough of Costa Rican food and want to try something different. This is an authentic place for salty and sweet pencakes owned by a friendly French couple.

“YUM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2010

My husband and I like to dine at non-typical non-touristy places. I am a foodie, he will enjoy almost anything. So when he suggested we dine at Sel et Sucre, I jumped at the chance! The restaurant is located on a side street, very easy to find. We parked our car across the street, and sat outside.

The temp outside was nice. A light breeze, and no rain in the forecast. We both had excellent crepes, his a western and mine spinach, beef and cheese. Delicious! Of course we had to have dessert: a limon and honey crepe.

The crepes are not your typical crepe found at American restaurants. These are huge, covering the entire plate. Nice and thin pastry, excellent fresh ingredients. Oh my.

The couple was very nice, the food excellent, and we will return on future visits to Puerto Viejo.

“fantastic crepes in Puerto Viejo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2010

We dined at this tasteful restaurant in July and were really surprised to find crepes made by a Breton couple, that exceeded our wildest expectations... The owners are a friendly French couple running a small restaurant a little off the grid in the center of town. They serve fresh juices and great pancakes and waffles. The owner uses fresh produce and it does not go by unnoticed. A fun place to relax, although the service was a little slow, so best not have a tight itinerary when visiting Sel et Sucre
