We spend three days in this amazing lodge, surrounded by the beauty of nature. This is a perfect place to relax but also to get active. Different tours are offered to explore the spectacular rainforest and farmland.
Already getting there is an adventure, as you need to take the last part by 4x4, crossing rivers and already enjoying some spectacular views of the gorgeous landscape and the Bananito River. We stayed in a superior room offering not only a lot of space but also an amazing view as you can open one side of the room completely. The hammocks on the porch were our favorite spot to enjoy this and the sounds of the rainforest. Especially in the mornings we woke up to a concert of singing birds. In the evenings when it got dark you could also hear all the animals and spot fireflies all around, making it to a magical place. The room also has some small solar-lights but we were lucky to also have the light from the moon, as it was almost full moon and no clouds.
Highlights were of course also the tours we did. The first afternoon we gave our best to climb a giant tree. Even it was really exhausting in the heat, it was a great experience and challenge. The reward was a nice view from up there.
The second day we started after a delicious breakfast with tropical fruits to a waterfall hiking tour. We walked for hours along the riverbanks, having the rainforest all around us. We had a great guide, showing us the wildlife we passed and who told us a lot of interesting things about the different plants. He made the tour to a real adventure. A great challenge for the whole group was to do the rappel down the waterfalls. Refreshed from the water we continued to a second rappel taking us down a canyon where the water was coming down all around us, an amazing place!
To round off our stay we had a horseback riding tour, the third day in the morning. The horses were great, it seemed like they enjoyed the tour through the farmland as much as we did, a fantastic way to see this landscape. Again our guide told us a lot about the plants we saw, which was very interesting.
Our host, Jürgen, explained to all of us what he and his family are doing since years to protect the rainforest and the river Bananito. They are working on many great inspiring projects to do their contribution to save this amazing environment and its resources. They also educate pupils and adults and take social responsibility in the area to make sure that also future generations understand the importance of saving this paradise.
