I tried the restaurant Sobre las Olas my first night in Cahuita and had a mixed experience. The service was cryptic to the point of nonexistent. Somebody dropped a menu on my outside table and vanished - no idea. After a while, I went in to get myself a beer. A bit later I went back in for another beer and to make an attempt to order food. At this time, the owner was there and the waiter seemed to develop a sudden sense of urgency about bringing me the beer - still had to almost grab him to place my food order, but I managed to do so.
The Swordfish Carpaccio was spectacular, well worth the battle to order it. The outdoor table was very pleasant, overlooking the beach.
It is rather pricey, but I would give them another try the next time I go to Cahuita.
