We had toured most of Costa Rica for 18 days and we needed a place to stay in San Jose for 2 days prior to our departure. The Hotel Hojarascas was recommended to us by an acquaintance prior to our tour and so we reserved a room for my family and I. This hotel is in downtown Heredia and conveniently located 50 meters from a Catholic church, across the street from a super market and 100 meters from a mercado. From the outside the hotel appears small but once inside your amzazed how deep it realy is. It is very clean and well decorated. Jose, the manager, is extemely friendly and very helpful. He took greart pleasure in making sure we had all we needed and he is a pleasure to speak with. We were provided a room with a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, a living room with a television. We had the option of preparing our own breakfast or eating the one prepared by Jose. This included fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, cheeses, fresh breads, excellent coffe, teas, fruit juices, jams and the run of the kitchen and dining area. We felt asthough this was our home away from home. The internet access is free and so is transportation to the airport 15 minutes away. I highly reccomend this hotel.

Hotel Hojarascas was a clean, charming hotel in Heredia, with amazing service. Jose, one of the owners, picked us up from the airport, booked tours for us and prepared us a fabulous Costa Rican breakfast, complete with fresh fruit and much more. The rooms were small, yet clean, and we had access to a refrigerator in the hotel's kitchen, which made food shopping easy. While we were expecting Heredia to be more natural, we enjoyed walking the streets of the city...Overall, Hotel Hojarascas was a great place to start our trip to Costa Rica!

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the airport and it was a great start to our trip! The owners were helpful and went out of their way to meet our needs. On our earlier departure they even provided us breakfast before the normal breakfast hours. The room was clean. Their breakfasts were fresh. They provided internet and laundry services that we used more than we expected. We returned here for our last night and felt like we were returning to our own family!

Our first stay at Hojarascas was not our last. We made it our "base " for travel throughout Costa Rica. Personal service,impeccably clean rooms and a welcoming family made this an ideal place for our home base. It was conveniently located close to airports and our amiable host met our international flight making our arrival a smooth, hassle free experience. We enjoyed the central location of the hotel in Heredia, close to a supermarket, pharmacy, indoor public market and historical sites. We highly recommend this hotel for travelers looking for a friendly and safe stay.
