Our stay at Puerta del Sol was a fantastic experience for us. It was our first time in Costa Rica.
We stayed 8 days and the room was always very clean. The owners and staff keep everything
in good order.
Ana Maria and Pedro were very helpefull to organize our daily tours. They left us with a feeling that we are like family members.

My family and I booked this place because we were getting in pretty late at night and did not want to try to get our car rental picked up and drive to our true destination on Lake Arenal. Overall, our impression was that this place had seen better days. The price was right - were just looking for a place to crash, get a shower, have breakfast and then move - Puerta del Sol fit that bill well.

Unfortunately, its proximity to the Pan American Highway meant we listened to the grumble and roar of trucks until well into the night, and then started up again pretty early in the morning.

The room we ended up in had two queen sized beds in it - which was nice so my wife and I were in one and our daughter got the other. But you can see from the pictures on the listing that they are sort of crammed together in the room that was really meant for one of them. The room itself needed some TLC. The grounds were not bad with the various tropical plants and birds of all kinds flitting in and out.

The breakfast was awesome. Fresh juice, fresh ripe fruit, eggs, sausage, toast. Great Costa Rican coffee. Mmm mm.

So if you are looking for a cheap crash pad with a nice breakfast then this is the place. If you are looking for anything more than that you should probably keep looking.

Oh, I mentioned we got in late and had been led to believe during the online booking that the hotel provided shuttle service to and from the airport. It does, for $13 one way. This was not very clear in the booking content so just be aware. Also, I mentioned we got in kind of late and called at around 10PM - the proprietors were essentially closed up for the night and weren't too happy about shlepping over to the airport to pick us up. But the senor did and was very nice and helpful exchanging some currency for us getting us a cab over to the rental location.
