Great place to start and end your vacation in costa rica.
I stayed at this place last year and went back again with friends this year!! The garden is amazing..Worth your money!

I visit Costa Rica several times per year for business, but this time was for pleasure. Every time I walk into the lobby of Bougainvillea, I feel like I am being welcomed to my second home. There are two things that make Bougainvillea one of my favorites, (and I travel frequently all over the world). The staff and the gardens. You could not ask for more friendly, non-assuming, REAL people to staff this hotel, and the gardens...every time i walk back there i can feel my blood pressure drop 20 points...absolutely gorgeous. The rooms and the food are above average and don't pretend to be anything other than extremely clean, solid, and of good value. I can't wait to return again.

A great value. The roons are spacious-furniture is not special but very nice and clean. We had a deck with two chairs that looked out over beautiful gardens. Restaurant was very good for dinner. A very nice place for a little more than $100/night. Located conveniently from the airport.

The hotel has a beautiful garden. The staff was friendly enough and the food was decent, but unless you are planning on spending time in that very specific area surrounding the hotel (there is nothing to see around it) I highly recommend finding another hotel. It is not near San Jose or the airport at all. Costa Rica is a beautiful country to visit but the streets do not have names and it is extremely difficult and very confusing trying to get around. I printed the directions right off their website from the airport to the hotel and I am very good with directions but they are very hard to figure out. It took over an hour to get there. They do not have air and it got pretty hot and it was very loud early in the morning. Overall the hotel was nice but it is so far out of the way from everything that there really isn't a point to staying there. On a previous trip to San Jose I stayed at the Holiday Inn Aurola which is nice and in a very good location, but if you want to stay by the airport there is a Hampton Inn right across the street.
