My husband and I just completed the coffee tour at Cafe Britt. Overall, we were very disappointed. This tour is NOT worth the 35 dollars we paid for the tour + mediocre lunch.

The staff is very friendly; however, it seemed as though the tour was geared toward children (or adults who have the attention span of a child). The information was presented in a theatrical way, and although I enjoy theater, the performance jumbled up the information. We really wanted to know about the coffee process and also how the coffee bean was introduced to Central America - and again - although this information was given, it was conveyed in such a simplistic style that we felt like we were back in kindergarten.

Overall - we say: save your money and find another more genuine and reasonably priced tour.

The tour is entertaining but very staged. Had hoped to see the workings of a coffee plantation, but this is more of a superficial tour designed to get you into the gift shop. No matter, the gift shop is excellent, but not as good as the restaurant. The food was outstanding and the coffee drinks were the best. Puts Starbucks to shame. Be sure to buy some coffee to take home as the quality is great for the price.

“Great Coffee at the Beach In Flamingo Beach what a way to start the day.”

Best way to start the day Britt Dark Roast coffee , and a morning bruch by the beach at Flamingo Beach.

Feed the birds and watch 'the Birds-English style" walk the beach.

First took this tour 13 years ago, when tourists were far fewer in number, and the tour group size was much more manageable. This time, they tried to maneuver around what was probably near 125 people, so at several stops found myself at the rear of the pack, not able to really see or enjoy the particular presentation. The tour itself has the same agenda as before, but the professional "cupper" (coffee taster) from my first tour has been replaced by one of the three employees who staff the tour. Also, instead of conducting the tasting in a pleasant outdoor area, it is now held inside the rather dark theater, just before the "show". Although the tour overall is interesting, I feel the $19 now charged is abit too pricey for what you get. Surely, this tour cannot be anything but a real moneymaker for Cafe Britt.

I also paid the extra $10 for the lunch, and was similarly disappointed. I guess, due to time constraints, tour groups are shuffled into seating ahead of others, and run first through the limited buffet line, which contains some salad ingredients, rice, several cooked vegetables, and one main entry, a rather dry and tastless chicken filet. Desserts cost extra. Unless included with your tour price, I'd skip the lunch and enjoy more variety elsewhere.

What a pleasure it was to take this tour! It wasn't what we expected! It comes complete with a comedic skit in an air conditioned auditorium that had us in stitches! Of course, the grounds were beautifully planted with all sorts of flowers among the coffee bushes, and the store had tons of interesting stuff. As someone who has worked in the gourmet coffee industry. I can vouch that the price of 89.00 to ship almost 20 lbs of coffee back to the states, is a real bargain. That includes the shipping! And there's a cafe (of course!) with lots of coffee drinks. Relax and enjoy the adventure!
