“Very Nice Accommodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Our family very much enjoyed our few nights at the Yam. The staff were friendly, helpful, and the hotel was clean. We appreciated having the kitchen and eating area and the patio off the kitchen. This is a very nice hotel, and a good value for the money.

spend 4 nights at this lovley place on march 2013.
we were 2 adults and 3 daughters.
best location - close enought to the beach and far enought from the crowded centre.
the place is well maintained - clean, new, the right aquipment inside the room.
lovlely pool to cool the hot noon.
we got a comfortable suite - great for family.
the best part was the hospitalilty - Arbel is the best owner we met!

Room Tip: Room 1 is best for families

We had a lovely stay. Clean and well appointed rooms, and service that truly went beyond the expected to make us comfortable. And the quiet location is a real treat in bustling tamarindo Thank you tamarindo yam. What a sweet place. Sababa!

This is not a bad little hotel but it is certainly not "high class." The units are well built with some nice woodwork but the mattress on the bed was HORRIBLE. The bedding was shabby and some of the towels had seen better days.
The kitchen was minimally equipped. We asked for a few things (like a toaster oven and a spatula) which we got and I assume were robbed from other units.
Steybin, the manager, and a very nice young lady was accommodating and helpful. She manages this place with a skeleton staff. One cleaning lady, who has Sunday off, so our room was not cleaned on Sunday....two night watchmen and a handyman. We had a leak under our bathroom sink which was not resolved in a week.
The pool area has 4 lounge chairs which was fine for us as, except for Saturday night, we were almost the only people there. It could be a bit crowded if all 7 units were full. There seemed to be a problem with the pool filter.
Location is great...a short walk to the beach or the shops.
We thought Tamarindo Yam was overpriced....probably the reason that most units are unoccupied!
In spite of the friendly staff, we would not stay here again.

Very nice small hotel. About 7 rooms. Rooms (Regular & bigger) are quite big. All the rooms have 2 TV's, AC, Separate bedroom, kitchen, refrig, & kept clean. Room are more than fairly priced. If you are staying 6-7 days call them directly and you can get a better rate. Big thing is it's a short walk to the main drag. Employees b-lingual, were very helpful & friendly. Friendly is nice. There is a great restaurant - first one on the right (Kahiki) walking towards town that has awesome breakfast till 1:45 PM. Had breakfast twice & dinner. Reasonably priced. large portions and food was real good & a sports bar.

Room Tip: I stayed in 2 rooms -#6 Very Large with an upstairs bedroom. Then moved to #2 - plenty of room &...

The two bedroom was big and spacious. It is a short walk to the beach. The staff was nice. The price was very reasonable. I would stay there again. Some things that I would suggest for the Yam. The first day we were there the room had an overwhelming smell to it. They might have been spraying for insects? Not sure, but had to open all windows and run air conditioner to breath the first night. They might want to switch out the curtains that have a huge food stain on it (it actually has texture). Last thing is the air conditioner in the one bedroom had a bright blinking light on, that is until it stopped working the last night were there and started making random alarm noises. All in all I would stay there again.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It was a really short walk to the beach and town. A nice feature was the loft, so our "young adult" could have her own space while still where we could keep an eye on her! We all had our own rooms and a family area! The turtle tour that they suggested was awesome - saw turtle's laying eggs on the beach. It was also so nice to have American TV and airconditioning. Take it from someone that has been to Costa Rica more than 25 times - this was a great place to stay!

Room Tip: The back Condo Hotel rooms were the great for a family!
