I know my review is delayed by months, but thought it appropriate, since all the people I met at WRSC are now getting together for a week trip at Squaw Valley to go snowboarding and Skiing!
WRSC is by far one of the most laid back and comfortable places I have ever visited. The staff is top notch, Joe (the Owner) and his wife Holly and the kids are super nice and supportative, the surf instructors are really patient and really bond with you and take you out to local places of interest and food. Everyone there is very genuine. Plus the sushi was amazing!
There were a lot of single travelers there and we all started hanging out every night and truly enjoyed all that Tamarindo had to offer.
Rooms are basic and clean, beds are comfortable and you have great views of the ocean. No TV's which was great. You are hardly ever in your room to be quite honest, too much to do.

Food and drinks are great and affordable, Witch's Tit and Imperial by the pitcher is my advice to you! Did I mention how great the sushi was?
I plan on going back this year and as often as I can. Joe and his staff are amazing people who only want you to have fun and enjoy yourself.

I go to Costa Rica as often as possible and the highlight of my trips is always the time I spend at Witch's Rock Surf Camp. I've taken lessons with Edgar and Luis and my surfing has advanced more in one day with either of them then a whole season on my own. Thanks to Edgar I dropped in on my best ride ever on my birthday. That's a great memory. The staff is made up of the kindest people. While I surf I leave my stuff (wallet with money.. included) in the surf shop. No one has ever ripped me off here; even in making change. You can pay in dollars and will probably get change back in colones. It is the curency of Costa Rica after all. If you want everything to be just like it is at home; then stay at home. If you want to have an awesome laid back vacation where the staff will treat you like a friend then I recommend Witch's Rock Surf Camp. I can't wait to go back in Feb. 09

Having found the WRSC via Google, I was a little unsure of what the hotel/surf camp would really be like when I got down there. Now that I'm back, I have only praises for this place.

- The hotel: right on the beach, a restaurant in the lobby that has great food and its own sushi chef, the rooms look like they were recently buildt and they are really comfortable
- The surf camp: the instructors are very good at their jobs and got me up on a board on my first try, daily lessons and seminars and unlimited surfboard rentals were all included in the package and we were even taken on a field trip on our last day to another beach to surf (no easy feat with 15+ beginning surfers plus boards)
- The staff: they were always smiling and going out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay, from Marcela at the front desk to Hazel in the restaurant to the surf instructors Carlos, Flash, Andres, Julie, Vicki and Alex.

I've traveled the world and I can honestly say that this was my most relaxing vacation ever; I can't thank WRSC or its staff enough. Thank you!

Would highly recommend WRSC to anyone wanting to travel to Costa Rica. The staff was friendly, the location perfect (right on the beach), the food was great (especially the sushi), the beer was cheap, and most importantly, the surfing was spectacular. In a week I went from never having touched a surfboard in my life to being able to ride the waves. The instructors did a great job. Can't wait to come back!
