Stayed for a week.
Place has it pros and cons, depending on what you are looking for.
It is secluded from the commotion of the center of tamarindo, though the rooms facing the street side still get the road noise from the cars going into/out of tamarindo.
The rooms facing the beach are great. #12 our favorite due to the decor (our friends stayed there) but the balcony does not have the view of the water like #11 does, where we stayed. #11 is a bit more used up, and the decor is not as modern as #12, but the view is right in front of the water (though the water is a good 1/4 mile away +/-).
The room sits right above the bakery's seating area, but we did not have any noise problems like some of the other reviews say. Keep in mind that the bar was not open so at night the seating area was empty like a ghost town (which was a good thing).
The room itself is comfortable yet basic. Could use some more beach decor on the walls here and there to make it more cozy, maybe a paint scheme of some sort. It just felt very plain, but the view made up for it.
The bathroom had some broken tiles on the floor, but all else was fine. The shower was ample and water pressure sufficient. The hot water took a little while to figure out but once figured, it could get really hot if needed. We took mostly cool showers anyways.
Water in tamarindo appears to be well controlled and had no issues with getting sick.
Room had a little refrigerator and a coffee maker.
The cleaning staff was very friendly and very thorough, leaving the place impecable each time.
The towels are quite old, but it happens to be that is how my wife likes them as she says they dry the best that way.
The AC was sufficiently cold and we had it on minimum at 25C during the night. we also had the ceiling fan running. We could not leave the balcony door open because there are no screens, so insects would get in. Also, at around 4-5, you can smell the bakery goods being baked, but one early morning they were burning trash and the wind was blowing the smoke towards our balcony, so that morning I kept the door closed and had no bakery smells :-(
Staff is very friendly and very accommodating. The place is family owned. Has parking outside. Walk right to the beach from the back. Secluded on the sides. Excellent breakfast. We did not try the lunch menu because we were always out, but by the looks of it, it looked just as good as the pastries.
Overall great value, quiet (bar was not running), and clean. Friendly staff.
