Tamarindo and Jardin Del Eden are best if your vacation plan is to slow down and relax, especially if you travel in off season. Our room was always spotless and the housekeeping staff fantastic. Costa Rica is a very eco friendly nation, so expect a few ants in your room. But we never saw a roach during our whole vacation. The restaurant staff was more laid back than the housing staff. They prepared a very basic breakfast - the same thing every day. But by dinner, they seem to only open if enough employees show up. So don't count on food service staff being present after 1pm. They did not open for dinner any of the five nights we were there - but always promised to be open one or two days in the future. Best to plan to walk the 100 yards or so along the path you see in photos. The other end opens onto the main street of town where all sorts of dining options are available. And since most rooms have a mini fridge, you can always bring something back for snacking. The last couple blocks of the road into the hotel would be a challenge if you are driving a small car.
