“Relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Tamarindo and Jardin Del Eden are best if your vacation plan is to slow down and relax, especially if you travel in off season. Our room was always spotless and the housekeeping staff fantastic. Costa Rica is a very eco friendly nation, so expect a few ants in your room. But we never saw a roach during our whole vacation. The restaurant staff was more laid back than the housing staff. They prepared a very basic breakfast - the same thing every day. But by dinner, they seem to only open if enough employees show up. So don't count on food service staff being present after 1pm. They did not open for dinner any of the five nights we were there - but always promised to be open one or two days in the future. Best to plan to walk the 100 yards or so along the path you see in photos. The other end opens onto the main street of town where all sorts of dining options are available. And since most rooms have a mini fridge, you can always bring something back for snacking. The last couple blocks of the road into the hotel would be a challenge if you are driving a small car.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the better the view. But there is lots of landscaping and hearby new construction...

“Amazing place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

I spent 1 week at Tamarindo and all of them in Jardin del Eden.
The hotel is not in front of the beach - which was positive in my point of view - but have an amazing view of the beach, with amazing atmosphere at the pools and bangallos.
The restaurant is really good for the price (less than 15 dollars for dinner and 8 for lunch), the lobster was a surprise! The drinks are pretty much good, in special the Piña Colada.
My room was the 31, a huge one! 2 king beds, and a small one (just for me and my firend), with a huge balcony and expectacular view of the sea.
They have 3 parking levels which was enought for everybody.
Highly recommend!

Room Tip: All the rooms have anti-noise windows and doors. But was unnecessary...the hotel is realy quiet!

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We originally wanted a place on the beach but ended up staying here. Just as good! They had beach access and two pools. The beach was a close walk. And the hotel was close to the little shops. The concierge was helpful in booking us a sailing trip. We went on an evening sailing trip where we had dinner, too many cocktails, and went snorkeling. The snorkeling on the Pacific side isn't that great, but it was still worth it.

The hotel had great food and drinks. The pool was super relaxing. And while I was reading one morning by the pool I saw howler monkeys and iguanas on the hotel grounds. So awesome! Saw lots of lizards. We felt super safe in this hotel and they even had us park our rental in a secure lot. Our room was amazing. By far the biggest bed we slept on the whole trip. Nice and soft. The bathroom was beautiful. And the breakfast was really good.

I would stay here again for the town, hotel, and activites in the town. PS look into Tierra Verde travel Costa Rica. It's who we used and they were awesome. The prices were wonderful and they are a huge help. You can send me a message if you want to know more or to get their website link.

“Location, Location, Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

Visited with my wife for our "Second Honeymoon". El Jardin was the last resort we stayed at out of 3 others during our stay in Costa Rica. The room we stayed in was rather small, but nicely appointed and very comfortable. Bathrooms were spacious and shower was quite large. The breakfast buffet was mediocre at best, cold eggs, swatting away flies. Location was the selling point of this resort. Only a hundred meter walk to the "Main Street", which runs right along the beach. Plenty of small shops for souviners, and several good places to eat. Nari's Pizza was the best! The Flying Bull was a really nice outside bar with excellent sevice. When we revisit Costa Rica for our "Third Honeymoon", El Jardin will definately be on our list.

“Very Good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Room: Excellent rooms. Comfortable bed and nice showers. The jet tub did not work that great and took forever to fill up. Recommend spending extra for the balcony view of the ocean. We got a bottle of wine one night from the local market and just chilled up there and relaxed. The room had a strange Asian them though.

Service: Awesome. Roger is the man. He makes the best drinks we had in Tamarindo. The cleaning staff was thorough and the other folks at the hotel were helpful. Get the mojito.

Excursions: Don't book through the hotel. Everything can be booked on the street for less. You don't even have to search for more than a minute before you find a vender for whatever you want to do. Surf board= 10 dollars a day at a place on the main strip!

Grounds: Tropical garden with iguanas roaming around. The pool is also a little bigger than it looks in the picture. The swim up bar is not really used, but the bar staff makes a point to come down and serve you. The gated walk way to the beach is about 100 feet. A short walk and then the beach is across the dirt road. Easy access. The grounds people were always working on something. The pool was very clean. The only problem we had is they are doing a lot of work all day and night to the hotel going up in front of it. (Also make sure you get an SUV as there is a dirt road leading to the hotel, which could prove difficult).

Happy Hour: From 5-7 buy one get one everything. The best deal in Tamarindo we found.

Food: Was good, but not great. Good $8 plates for lunch. The nachos were always served cold, that may be a costa rica thing b/c it happened to us some placeelse. Breakfast was good (rice, beans, eggs, toast, fruit, sliced deli style meat). The only problem was it is the same every day.

Internet: No internet connection in the room, doesn't really work. Internet connection in lobby works great. But you need to bring your own device. Very odd that they charge you to use 2 computers in the lobby, usually at hotels it is complimentary.

Overall: Recommend for breakfast and lunch. There are better options for dinner in Tamarindo. Great for happy hour 5-7. Service is first rate! Make sure Roger makes your drinks. Decent pool, easy beach access. As far as luxary goes, probably the best option in Tamarindo from what we saw. The only other hotel that would of met our honey moon standard is Hotel Diria. However be warned that locals hate that place and consider it an eye soar. If you stay there do not tell any of the locals...

Things to do: Scuba dive, surf, monkey zip lining, beach, drink (sharky's), great sushi at a few places, and a couple other really great restaurants (nibanna I think the name was). Tamarindo was awesome, I will be back and probably will stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a balcany room over looking the ocean, worth it.
