My wife, son and I traveled to Tamarindo to attend the Wayra school - a week long immersion program in Spanish instruction. Wayra coordinated everything: our school assignments, lodging in the home of a very sweet lady in nearby Santa Rosa (who had hosted students for the school for more than 10 years), afternoon tours and helpful advice for restaurants, etc.
Wayra instructors helped us at our own, individual levels of comprehension and background experience. My son, 12 yrs old, had one-on-one instruction and my wife and I had very small classes (one other student in her advanced class and two other students in my basic class).
While we each had homework assignments each day, there was plenty of time for enjoying "la playa" and the amazing sights/tours available.
Wayra can accomodate students of all levels (illustrated directly via the experience of our family). One constructive comment: I think that there is a little too much flexibility left to the instructors for field trips pertaining to the Spanish language instruction. While my wife's field trips seemed very eductional and focused, mine did not and I didn't feel they were the best use of our class time - a relatively minor nit. All in all, the school provided a very good educational experience for me and my family. We will certainly consider attending the school again in the future.
