“Thai beef that melts in your mouth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We first went in to La Baula's just down the street but then found Dragon Fly just a little bit further up. The food and service here are very good. The Thai beef and cellophane noodles was killer. It was the best tasting beef I've ever had.

Thank you. We use select grass fed beef tenderloin for all our beef dishes.

“Excellent food, but TERRIBLE service at our last visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We have probably dined at Dragonfly at least 10 times in the past 3 years. the food has always been excellent, and up until our last visit, they had practically the best service in Tamarindo.
HOWEVER, we had contacted the owners and made a reservation for 10 people 3 or 4 weeks prior to our visit, so they knew we were coming.

We arrived on time at 6:30, and did not get our 1st courses until after 8:00. We had young children who were hungry and we had to hunt down a server and ask for bread, because the service was so slow and no one was updating us. Our dinners arrived 2 or 3 at a time, beginning after 8:30. 2 of us still didn't have meals by 8:50, and we found out they just began to cook our meals. When they did arrive they were all wrong!!!!
During our extremely long wait for our meals we asked to speak with the manager and were told he was off the premises. Meanwhile, not once did anyone come over to apologize or explain that the kitchen was running so behind.
This was BY FAR, the WORST SERVICE WE'VE EVER HAD AT ANY RESTAURANT, any where in the world. This was A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT and the owner's should be ashamed at having their restaurant run so poorly!! They were completely understaffed, and they knew this is the busiest time of the year.

“Very nice restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We had dinner there one night. We had a reservation and the restaurant did fill up eventually. The setting is down a small dirt road right beyond Pizzeria La Baula. You need to look for the signs or you'll miss where to turn. The restaurant is covered but open air and very pretty. It was more upscale than some of the other restaurants in town. Some of our main courses included Thai beef, mahi mahi and chicken. They were all very good. We shared a rich chocolate dessert to end our meal. The service was very good once the food started coming. They were a little slow on the drinks. Go to Dragonfly for a more upscale experience than some of the other typical beach restaurants.

“Wife liked it a lot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Me just a touch less. nice atmosphere- a wedding party or some type business party was in progress on our mid week nighttime visit. Good menu choices. Its an open air place, open around the sides, but with a full roof, bar/kitchen etc in the center and on one side. About A block from the main road.
I thought they could have given you just a touch more veggies or rice etc but my wife was fine with the serving size.

“Classy restaurant, delicious dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

The restaurant is a bit hard to find, but was worth it. The open-air setting is lovely and our dinners were delicious. Servers were friendly and helpful.
