“Fantastic!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

2 months back Me and my wife visited this restaurant. The restaurant was very pretty. We went there to complete our dinner. We took fish and pasta dish. The fish was fabulous. Both me and my wife enjoyed the dinner. Besides, the atmosphere of this restaurant was very romantic. Their staff was very polite too. We were very amazed to see the bill! The bill was very reasonable according to the standard of the dishes. This is one of the best restaurant ever i have visited in my life.

“Savory and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Great service and great food! Our server was very attentive, polite and very helpful with the menu. The drinks the bartender made was fantastic for all of us. The owner was very pleasant and had a great attitude. If ever we are in this area again, we would definitely made a point to stop here again.

“Not Loco, Me gusta El Coco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

While not inexpensive not especially pricey either. Other options in Tamarindo are cheaper but the ambiance, service and food quality make this restaurant a memorable place to have a meal... in a good way. My wife and I enjoyed the shrimp and avocado appetizer and absolutely loved it. The wine and server were particularly good as were the entrees. We'd easily come here again and enjoyed the experience. The only thing which could make it better would be a beach location, but alas... some things can not be changed...

“Decent experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

Food here was great except for stale tortilla chips. When we first got guacamole and chips as appetizer we were a little worried. Asked for new chips and we given some but they still didn't seem fresh. Staff seemed to know this, and though they could not solve the problem they weren't rude about it either. They seemed to know they were not the best chips and didn't deny it.

Got fish and chips and Mexican
Chicken. Both were great meals. Profiteroles at end were also awesome.

Had to go to bar to get check. Staff left some things off bill perhaps to comp
Us for bad chips or maybe just forgot. This place nailed the fresh cooked items. Decent experience and the staff was cordial to best describe it. Service wasn't that great but seemed more out of laziness than anything else. Not spiteful or mean, just not much of an effort.

“Overpriced and disappointing food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

This was the most outrageously priced food we found in Tamarindo and it was just okay, not great. They do have a great wine list, but the prices are extremely high (I assume that has to do with import taxes, but I don't know that for certain). The staff was fairly friendly and helpful, but seemed annoyed at times. The food was anywhere from average/decent to bad (a lobster dish I had looked great, but didn't taste good).

Bottom line, I think you should avoid El Coconut. There are much better places in Tamarindo that aren't gouging tourists with their prices.
