We had the best time at the Tropical. The staff is great, very friendly and can not do enough for you. The rooms are huge with a full kitchen and large sitting area. You have a private porch to relax and watch the sunrise and set. Our room did not have A/C which was an adjustment. But hearing the surf, howler monkey's and roosters more than made up for it! If you want the 'big box' vacation where you can close your eyes and be at any Marriott, Hyatt or Holiday Inn in the world, the Tropical is not for you. If you want to relax, chat with other guests, hike or bike and feel like you are truly in Costa Rica this is a great place to be. The food was great, the grounds and pool is immaculate. We loved it and will definetly be back!

Beautiful grounds, cabins were amazing, food was delicious. Wifi in every room. Very relaxing, a good place to go if you want peace and quiet. The AC worked great and the staff was very friendly. There were Howler monkeys on the property.

A paradise within a paradise. Tambor Tropical is located in a rustic, remote, and densely vegetated tropical setting, complete with wild life indigineous to the area. We were awakened every morning by the sounds of the many different native birds and the soothing sounds of the ocean waves rushing upon the beach. We visitied Tambor Tropical during the rainy season (October) which made our stay more alluring and romantic.

The ambience was relaxing, cozy, and truly tropical. The suite decor and designs were archeticual masterpieces, we were surrounded by the many different woods and hand carvings. The staff and management were friendly, courteous, polite, and patient. The grounds were well kept and maintained daily. The food exceeded our expectations and the house keeping surpassed many five-star hotels in the US. The many tourists attractions were offered at different price ranges. We will return to Costa Rica and book our lodging with Tambor Tropical.

Been through this area before and as savy traveler who likes to be comfortable yet rustic this place fits the bill. Let me say that that Ray guy reviewer is smoking crack with his description of the property and amenities. We had an upper room and worth the extra money especially if you want to chill on a private deck. It is low season and it feels like this place is your private villa but I'm sure it can't always be that way. We had the lobster for dinner and knowing how it can be hit and miss but we were very pleased with the how great it tasted and noted that it was a great value in comparison with other restaurants. The free continental breakfast just kept coming and was more than filling. We could tell this was the place to be for dinner as other tourist from different hotels stopped by for food and drinks. I would say it was probably low staff and untrained staff due to the season but they did not seem to motivated to engage but it was pretty slow here and I'm sure they just were not in hustle mode.
All in all if you come here I believe you will find it more charming then most places and unless you are a pretentious tourist you will have a wonderful Costa rica style vacation.
