We stayed at cabinas Villa Kunterbunt for two days and really enjoyed it there. We talked to Tommy, the owner, and he told us that there were some troubles in the past (see some reviews below) because another couple managed the cabinas. However, now Tommy takes care of things and everything seems to improve :-)

Villa Kunterbunt is located a bit off from Samara - 25 minutes walk to the city, 5 minutes walk to the next shops & restaurants. Villa Kunterbunt is a very quiet and nice place to relax.

However, if you're looking for a super-comfort hotel room with cable TV, A/C and so on, then Villa Kunterbunt is not your choice - if you're looking for a quiet and relaxed location next to the beach, then Villa Kunterbunt is the right choice

My boyfriend and I went to Samara at the end of a wonderful trip to CR. We had read about Cabinas Villas Kunterbunt in a travel guide and decided to stay there. While the location is lovely, right on the beach, the hotel was in awful shape and the owners were incredibly rude.

We encountered several problems while staying there. We looked past the bats and other wildlife staying with us in our room, but not the exposed electrical wiring inside the shower and lack of drinkable water. Although, there was a spring water fountain in the kitchen, but it was "off limits to guests."

The owners really were the worst part of the stay. Our questions were brushed off rudely or simply ignored, and they made us feel as if we were inconveniencing them the entire time. It seemed like the only times they went out of their way for us were to make us feel uncomfortable. When we asked to rent a surfboard, the female owner said we couldn't because it was the male owner's turn to use it, and later when were sitting on the beach watching the sunset, the man dragged his dog directly in front of us, and started yelling at it and wrestling it until it got angry and barked until nightfall. There are too many encounters like this to list, even from our short stay.

We left after the first day and stayed at the Treehouse downtown, which is better in every way, and worth the extra cash. DO NOT STAY AT KUNTERBUNT!

On arriving, I thought the location a couple ok Km. from the town was inconvenient but I soon changed my mind because there is nothing so soothing as the sound of breaking surf outside the window in this isolated spot. The town is a bit brash anyway but if you must go there, it's accessible along the beach. Actually you can manage without the town's facilities because there is both a "soda" (locals' restaurant) and "pulperia" (village store) on the main road. The Kunterbunt is a quiet but friendly place with a nice garden for chilling out and a sizeable open-air kitchen. The only annoyance was a yapping dog next door; I won't say what the friendly resident Dobermann ought to do to it......otherwise an excellent place to relax, make friends and enjoy the Pacific sunsets.

The place was very relaxed. It was not the cleanest place...given a dirty smelly towel and it was very noisy all night with barking dogs and chicken calls. Kitchen was convenient but also dirty and when guests gather round and smoke lots of cigarettes...it wanders up to the rooms. The owners were friendly. It was ok, but wouldn't return. Great location to beach.
