My stay here at ticos adventure lodge was great. It was cheap and exactly what I needed. The couple running the lodge were very nice and their dog , a 3 legged lab, was a great companion. This place is definitely recommended.

Hotel is located off main drag but within 5 minute walk of beach, so no noise from drunk beach revelers but plenty of convenience and access to sand and water. Hotel grounds are not luxurious by any stretch, with a pool that is never used and odd furniture and items often strewn about. Hotel staff was helpful enough but not stellar by any stretch. Little effort was made to "wow" us or provide anything higher than basic service. Rooms were clean enough but screens on bathroom windows were not good at keeping bugs out. Ceiling fan also wobbled and made noise at night. Another note, No breakfast is provided at this hotel, but basic coffee service is. Also, there are a couple bars close to the hotel that play loud music late into the night.

Hi Tyler,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate all reviews and we are taking your comments into consideration. At the end of the November, things can still be very rainy, thus our pool furniture could have been turned over therefore not on proper display. We offer the communal kitchen and complementary coffee as a standard service to our guest, breakfast is not a provided as there are many great places in which to dine in while in Samara.

We are pleased you enjoyed our convenient location and we hope you return to Samara during your travels.

Saludos y Pura Vida

We stayed in one of the standard rooms in this cute little getaway and really loved it. It is in a great location, the owners give great recommendations (food and activities!) and will help you set up anything they can. My only complaint (and it is tiny) is that our pillows smelled bad. We put shirts over them and it wasn't a big deal. We felt bad telling anyone, which probably would have solved the problem. The pool was great, and everything was clean and really well maintained. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We traveled Costa Rica for two weeks (went to 5 star hotels, all inclusives etc.) and Tico's in Samara was by far my favorite place we stayed. I think this lodge and the warm, friendly owners really make this place somewhere you don't want to leave. Samara itself is a small surfer town which is great for beginning surfers. Tico's will help sign you up for their surfing school. You take an hour lesson and then you're welcome to borrow a board to practice for a week. This I thought was the best deal. The rooms at the lodge had plenty of space for me and my significant other, the pool is always clean and cool for warm weather, and the communal kitchen was always stocked and ready for use. And let's not forget free Wifi. Overall, I give Tico's Adventure Lodge a 10, and cannot wait to come back!

Not only is this beautiful little hotel a 5 minute walk to anywhere you want to go in town but it in its own way is hidden from the outside world. It felt like a sanctuary after a hard day to walk into this lush tropical villa-like paradise after a long day of surfing and working. They also have fully equipped kitchens so you can cook for yourselves, which keeps traveling cheap! Not only is the place amazing but the owners are as well. I was leading a team of 16 students and they did so much to make sure we were comfortable and cared for. Everything from letting us use their restaurant discount cards to helping care for myself and two other students who got concussions from a surfing accident. There son, who is a professional surfer also took one of my students surfing with him! It was like being at home. I would highly recommend tico lodge as your next vacation spot.

Thanks Ertissot88,

It was great having you stay with us! You and the group of teens were a delight. You filled the lodge with such a positive energy! Our garden is one of our favorite amenities as well. We pride ourselves in not having cut down any large trees during the construction of the lodge some 8 years ago, helping create the natural sanctuary that you so enjoyed. We hope that you come and stay with us again, with the volunteer group or on your own! Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you again!

I brought a group of 20 students here to do service projects in and around Samara. In addition to a great facility and everything we could ask for, Tico Lodge handled all of our group activities - surfing rentals/lessons, canopy tour, and arranged for beach hikes up to the turtle sanctuary. They have a variety of rooms available, perfect for 1 or 2 and even up to a large group like ours. We'll definitely be back next summer.

Had a great weekend in Samara and this hotel played a large part in that. We stayed in a room that was almost a home away from home with full kitchen facilities, lots of space and a swimming pool outside our door. The owners were always friendly and helpful and the morning coffee was definitely well received.
