“Relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed at this property during our two week trip to Costa Rica. We found the setting to be peaceful and relaxing. The room was exactly what we needed and the price was very reasonable. Samara is a small town and everything is within walking distance.

Prices are very fair, but the beds are sticky and the place smells bad because of the dogs.

They are friendly though, and the breakfast is ok.

My wife and I recently returned to Samara and Entre Dos Aguas, remembering the wonderful time we spent there in 2009. I believe our stay this year was even better. They have made several improvements, including a kitchen and refrigerator for the guests. Though I don’t cook while on vacation, the refrigerator was very handy for keeping my adult beverages cold. There is a very nice pool where I find myself spending a lot of time; a relaxing way to wind down after a rough day on the beach. The rooms are spotless and spacious, the stone showers in the bathrooms very impressive and ‘fun’ to use. There is a safe in the room to lock your valuables while spending the day at the beach – nice feature. Being blocks away from the beach, noise is nil at nighttime and the overhead fan provides a pleasant way to fall asleep. Breakfast is fruity and the hosts are more than accommodating. Last but not least, their two dogs are loving and affectionate, they bothered neither us nor any other guests during our 5 day stay. If anything, just the dogs being there made us feel safer during the night. The room cost is very reasonable and we found no reason then or in the future to look elsewhere.

Room Tip: #7 is a very large room, great shower

This place appeared to be wonderful as we entered though we were greeted by two snarling ... growling dogs. We were told not to worry they were friendly ... BUT ... we checked in went for lunch and upon our return the dogs again snarled and growled at us but one dog in particular snapped at my husband and this made us feel very unsafe. The dog in question was a female and the host and his wife had a five week old baby and we feel that the dog was worried about the baby. You can not have an animal that is unpredictable in a hotel setting ... it made us very uneasy as we have never had troubles with animals before and have had many dogs as our family members over the years. We told the owner that we felt it was due to the baby but this animal is very unpredictable and must not be trusted. They were very kind and understood but we feel that people should be aware of this situation before staying and being caught unaware.

Room Tip: Beware of the dogs they appear unstable!

We found our stay in Entre Dos Aguas and Samara so relaxing, isn't that why you take a vacation. We felt as comfortable as in our own home based on the environment provided - clean, comfortable and real without it being to much. We used the grill two nights with a few other guests which was fun. The kids felt the same way (14 and 16). There area offers plenty to keep you active, but at a good pace. The hotel helped with ideas, activities and bookings. We enjoyed ourselves some much we came back.

Room Tip: We had room 7 which was quite spacious, perfect for a family

This place was spot on for our family. The location was at the entrance of the town and walking distance to the beach. Because it was Easter, the beach was crazy and I was very glad we did not stay there. We enjoyed hanging out in the covered patio on the hammocks and the community area was inviting and gave us the chance to mix with the other guests. Because of the location, it was quiet and private as well. My children enjoyed the pool when we needed a break from the Beach. If you are looking for a quiet beach, make sure you check out Carillo down the road, it was a lovely beach with no services or hotels on it.

Unfortunately the owners were not there because they were having a baby but Christopher our host offered a myriad of information and enjoyable conversation. We loved their dogs Suki and Bella and CC the cat. If you do not like dogs you may reconsider staying here because Bella especially likes to hang out with the folks but not in an annoying manner. If we come back to Costa Rica, we will definitely stay here again and for an extended stay!

Three of us were booked to stay for 2 nights in March. When we checked in we were told that they could only take us the first night despite havig a reservation. The lady (not sure if she was the owner) did't even try to find us other accommodation, we had to go and look ourselves. The area around the pool was littered with dog excrement. Room was clean but that was the only positive thing we could say.
