I've been looking forward to reviewing this quaint little hotel. It turned out to be just what we needed.
First of all, it happens to be a little ways out of town, which turned out to be a happy accident. It was so quiet, peaceful and serene. We walked past other hotels on our way into, or in town, and would hear loud music from the pool area, or just lots of activity. We were so happy for our quiet little corner outside of town.
The hotel is owned and operated by a young French couple (and their adorable one year old daughter :)..... Clemence was such a warm, engaging, sincere hostess... truly interested in making our stay a good one.
The room was basic, but very clean and very adequate. A/C functioned well to keep us cool at night, and there was also a ceiling fan above the bed.
The pool area was fantastic... very clean, with many seating options.... loungers with very comfortable cushions, chairs with umbrellas, or chairs just outside each room, for shade and more privacy. We found the pool time here to be very relaxing. All the guests seemed to be into the same thing... just enjoying the peace and quiet and the ambience of the place.
There were several cats and a dog living there, as well as howler monkeys that would show up most mornings and late in the afternoon. Out the back door, was a farmers pasture with cows and horses.... a very pastoral setting.
They have assembled a great staff there... all were so great and accommodating.
The restaurant...one of the best features as well! First of all, breakfast, which was included in the price of the room, was spectacular. Costa Rican coffee, fresh fruit juice, as well as fresh fruit, your choice of a variety of other things, ranging from Continental to Tipico. We stayed at the hotel for every single dinner... after the first one, we saw no reason to go elsewhere. They would have four entrees to choose from, which would be listed on a chalk board by mid afternoon, so you could have the rest of the day to salivate and make your choice for that day. Never disappointed. Usually there was one or two seafood dishes, maybe a pasta dish, maybe a chicken dish as well ... and a different little appetizer every day. Every meal we had was beautifully presented, and tasted fantastic. Desserts were the same.... four listed on the chalk board to choose from.... also delicious.... when we weren't too full after the delicious dinner!
If I could make one little suggestion.... it is very nice to have a little fridge in the room in that hot climate.... I understand that's a bit of an expense, but it's nice for travellers to be able to keep their beverages cold.
Over all, this place was a great find, and we would definitely return there, if ever in Samara again.
Thanks Clemence and family, and the rest of the team.
