We stayed at hotel Esperanza for 7 days. It is a wonderful boutique hotel that has been recently upgraded and will be adding a second level for suites with kichenettes. The outdoor patio is very beautiful with stone tables & bench, a star fruit tree and banana tree. There is a wonderful restaurant where Abelardo the chef cooks up great fish (very fresh) and pizzas. Erwin the manager welcomes you with a smile and a complimentary drink. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome in Carillo. He is fluent in english and will try to answer any questions or help you book tours if you need a translator. The staff is also very friendly. The pool is cleaned every morning and there is also a whirpool section to the pool. The rooms are small, but the decor is upbeat and the bathroom with the all ceramic tile shower is great! There is a tv where you can watch movies for free or bring your own (go to front desk). It was perfect for our kids because night time comes early and they could watch a movie while we relaxed by the pool with a drink after supper. The grounds are not very large so we litterally had our drink next to our room. We could even see our room from the outdoors restaurant. We will return again once the suites are built. Don't forget you have breakfast included. If you want other then typical Tico breakfast, you have to ask for pancaké or french toast.
Thanks again to all the staff for a memorable stay for our family!
