We spent five days here the first week in February. It's hard to think of any compliment that hasn't already been said about this place. Doug and Rosy are consummate hosts, always available, never intrusive, and the same goes for their staff. The pool is perfect, the food is great, the animals are fun, it's plenty close to the beach and it's only a short cab ride to town if you don't want to walk. It's also spotlessly clean. All in all, the staff couldn't have been more freindly and accomodating, and it was by far the best place we stayed in our two weeks in Costa Rica.

Great access to two wonderful beaches, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere by the pool, folld excellent, everything you would want. Highly recommend a stay here. Morning visit from howler monkeys add to the experience.

This was our second year in C.R. and have found our home. No more all inclusives. The Hideaway was the most comfortable setting to enjoy incredible Samara and meet wonderful folks from all over the world. Doug and Rosie and staff were amazing.Hands down the best place to stay. I am actually a Samara resident and stayed here with my visiting boyfriend in the beginning of December 2012. I specifically chose to stay here (literally to "hide away" from everyone I know in Samara!) because I had heard from others it was a nice place, a little bit out of the center of Samara.

True enough, though Doug and Rosy were not there, I was pleasantly surprised as to the how well-trained the staff are there, and how friendly and personable. All the rooms are in 2-story buildings grouped around a small patio and swimming pool, all on a private compound just a couple minute's walk from Samara beach. The rooms and grounds are well-kept, and you have a high chance to see families of howler monkeys in the trees surrounding the hotel. Carillo beach is only about a 10 minute walk down the main road in another direction, so you have both beaches to access easily.

They have small dining area in the main reception building, where you can order from quite a good menu at almost any time of day. As mentioned earlier, service was impeccable. It was obvious that care had been taken in training, which is not the case in other establishments around Samara.

Highly recommended for a quiet getaway.
