“Father and son had great time together.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Paul and I had a great time. Mauricio worked real hard changing lines baits techniques, etc. Paul caught his first Mahi Mahi and was absolutely thrilled. He also liked be surrounded by hundreds of dolphins and seeing a pod of pilot whales. Mauricio was great with my son in helping him boat all his fish. At the end of our trip we saved a little time for snorkeling. This was a great way to finish up. Next time were back we will definitely be going out with Captain Daniel and Mauricio for a full day again.

It sounds like you both had a memorable day out fishing and we're happy to read your review. A day out fishing is always better when you come upon a pod of dolphins or whales. The Pacific Ocean is magical. Thank you for your review . Lisa

“A fun morning fishing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Two of us went out for a morning fishing trip. Captain Daniel and Mauricio were there on time to greet us on the beach as promised. Although the boat was on the small side for a larger group it was perfect for 2-4 people, especially as the water was relatively calm, and the cost was very competitive. Mauricio spoke great English and they were both very welcoming and accommodating. Within a few minutes we enjoyed an unexpected pleasure motoring through a huge shoal of Devil Rays which were jumping all around us, and there were regular siteings of large turtles floating past us. Unfortunately the fishing was very slow for the first 3 hours without a single bite. Mauricio dropped us off for some snorkeling to break up the waiting but the water was fairly cloudy and we were soon back in the boat looking for the fish. A short while later the reels started spinning and over the next hour we caught 7 skipjack Tuna. Although not the largest fish they put up a fight and we grilled several that evening. We saw the Devil Rays on the way back to the beach closing out a fun morning.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. It seems like a lot of marine life showed up on your fishing trip but not the fish! I am glad that you both did get some at some point of your tour and that you were pleased with Mauricio's work. He loves to fish as much as the next fisherman and when he is not fishing, he's fishing. We hope you'll both be back!

“Professional and hardworking no matter how the fishing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

I booked with NPT for a day trip on March 7,2013. I was picked up on the beach at the Hilton right on time. Maurico immediately explained this was not going to be an easy day because of the wind but would work hard to put us on some fish. The morning started great with some great action on jacks in a large bay. Catching these on topwater was a real experience, not to mention the Frigate birds and pelicans diving around the boat as the jacks schooled on bait. What a picture! It got tough later as the wind picked up and we trolled some point areas to no avail. But finished the day catching some pargo and grouper for dinner.
Maurico and Daniel worked very hard even with the slow fishing. I never once felt they laid back.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. The Papagayo winds can be rough during our windy season. Seems as though they've slowed down now and the fishing action will once again change for our upcoming rainy season. I see your from Cortland, I was raised in Endwell, left for sunnier skies. If you ever come back down this way, look us up - rainy season has some crazy action! Thanks again, Lisa.

“Professional Fishing Charters don't book through hotel- use North Pacific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Fished with North Pacific Tours Feb 27, 2013 & was picked up promptly from beach of Hilton Papagayo. Great company highly recommended if all fisherman type, especially if serious fisherman like ourselves we were not disappointed! These guys do serious fishing!

Here our fishing report:
Just got back from fishing Costa Rica Pacific Ocean, did inshore Rooster fishing.
Casted with top water spoons...I had never seen that before but guide had home made spoons and the Roosters went crazy for them...crazy watching a 40 lb rooster mouth come out of the water to attack..miss..then attack again, they follow to the boat then turn around!

simply down rigger set up with live bait running at 20 ft down hooked into a monster which my wife took on....fought like a big king with head shakes at the boat then takes off again spooling out 300 feet of line,
after a good 30 min fight landed a 90 lb rooster

caught another 40 lb yellow tail snapper on the rigger and a 20 lb one casting topwater

My dad hooked into a needle fish...which is quite an art -see pic and you'll understand hard to hook that mouth.

all in all highly recommend Costa Rica fishing charter was North Pacific Tours--dad and son company--Maurice --, these guys fish hard everyday and will take you on a reel fishing trip not the resort company type (if you know what I mean).
Lisa was great at arranging an answering questions!

Hey John,
Thank you so much for your review. It is so nice to read such a wonderful report which I will share with the crew because they do work hard and they love to fish - its their passion. The lures you mention were given to us by the "three amigos," who fish with us yearly. Those guys are also die hard fisherman and also like fishing with us. We hope your family will return to the area and if you do, please contact us for another trip. Happy Fishing!

“Best trip of my life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

We were picked up on the beach on time, we then took a boat ride acrossed the way. We saw turtles, devil rays, dolphins and humpback whales. We did some casting and trolling. We were taken to a quiet cove where we ran into a big school of barracuda. We landed one barracuda and went fishing for some tuna for bait. After we had enough bait, we started trolling for roosters. John caught the first rooster which was about 70lbs. After in which the bait was still usable so we casted out the tuna again and right off the bat hooked into a monster rooster in which I reeled in. This was the most intense fight of my life. After we landed it we guess it was in the 90lb+ range. With time running out my friend hooked into a 60lb caberra snapper. This fish gave her a really great fight. The fish was then cleaned for us to take back to the hotel. The hotel cooked it wonderful. The full day is worth every penny, the lunch was even good too. We all had the time of our lives on this trip and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks again North Pacific tours. Pura vida!!
